Fluttering her eyes open, she found herself back in her dark room with a small shade of light from the window. Her pillow soaked with tears, she crumbled onto her feet while her head falls onto the floor in misery.

How long will she have to endure this? How long will she have to be like this? Frail and pathetic? Was this her destiny? Or was it her desire for this to be her destiny?

Her own thoughts left her rather confused of who she is, who she should be. But the memories never left. If anyone should get the award of the most depressing life, guaranteed it would be her.

Nevertheless, she managed to pull herself up as once again the dark room surrounded her. Was it her dream? Is she still sleeping? Life knew how to play games. If life was a person, she would probably kill it.

The eerie silence of the room left a rather spooky imprint on her as she clambered back onto her bed while shutting her eyes tight. One Mississippi...Two Mississippi....

Time never went more slow....

"I'm on way sir... I'll be there in another 15 minutes" she spoke as Dahlia ran around the room grabbing whatever was needed. Working in a company can be hard enough but working as a secretary to the boss was way worse. If not, horrendous.

Sprinting down the street while she clutched her bag tightly, she rushed faster and faster until she reached her destination. Fixing herself, she puts up a smile, so forced yet natural to others as she walked in with beautiful elegance.

"Hey Dahlia"

Dahlia turned her head around a small smile never ceased to display on her face.

"Mr Downey" she replied formally in a strong voice that may have hinted a crack.

"Drop the honorifics Dahlia" he said as his eyes searched yours.

"I'm sorry sir but you and I both know I can't do that." Dahlia smiled one last time before taking a small bow and leaving in the other direction.

"Hm...Interesting girl indeed" Downey whispered to himself as he watched her walk away. "Mysterious...."

Dahlia steps inside the bright room as she bowed down to her boss.

"Good morning sir." she said with a hint of cheeriness.

He looked up at her as his dull eyes bored onto hers. "Whatever..Give these paper works to Blake please and get me coffee." he voiced out as she nodded immediately, scurrying outside with the large paperworks.

Eyes never left her as she made her way down the long corridor. She was always on the hot topic discussion among the employees. A weak girl joining the biggest company. Rumours never left her in peace.

Reaching the end, her hand hovered over the door knob before grabbing it and opening it wide open.

"Ah Dahlia! Thank you so much!" Blake looked delighted as he smiled warmly. She liked Blake. As colleagues of course. He was the only one ever so kind and someone who never looked at her like she was trash. That she appreciated.

"Anytime sir"

"What did I tell you about you calling me sir?" his eyes narrowed as Dahlia let out a hollow chuckle.

"Never to call you that unless I want a rope around my neck?"

His eyes glittered in humour as he grinned and nodded in satisfaction.

"Okay then Blake"

"Much better" he sighed before sinking into his armchair.

"Extra papers?"
