The copperhead had an interview that was relatively close to his house. It went well and he was now walking back home. He was enjoying the nice breeze and the swaying trees when his phone rung. The godforsaken device that he grew to hate when the notification center wasn't filled with messages from a certain someone. Taking it out of his back pocket and checked who was calling him.

With a sigh he answered the call. Upon putting the phone up to his ear a loud crash of things was heard. Followed up by more things falling and then a loud silence.

"Hello?" Kenjiro finally spoke, half expecting the caller to be dead.

"Jiro!" The person shouted.

"If you don't stop screaming, I swear to god-"

"Sorry, sorry. Its just been kinda hard to get you on the phone." He nervously laughed.

"We talked this morning." The copperhead deadpanned. He knew his friend liked to know how his life was going but not this much.

"Exactly! Its the afternoon now!" Said friend screeched into the phone.

"Whatever Tsutomu. Was there something you needed?" Crooked bangs asked, knowing damn well that something was going on.

"Can't a guy just talk to his friend?" Bad haircut the sequel continued on trying to convince the other he didn't need anything.

"Yes, but not you. What did you want?" Not for one second was he buying this act. Not for one second.

"Well-"

"Aha! Knew you needed something, you little shit." He might have said that a little loudly as he had gotten a few stares. Once he noticed, he picked up his pace down the sidewalk.

"I don't need anything!" Tsutomu was good at a lot of things. Convincing his childhood best friend he didn't need something was not on that list.

"Then why'd you call?" Kenjiro questioned.

"Fine, the truth is-"

"Oh my god, are you pregnant?!" His voice was laced with playfulness as he asked the question.

"What?! No! Kenjiro!" He knew what he was getting himself into 15 years ago when he agreed to chasing butterflies in the front yard with the other.

"Phew, I wasn't ready to be a grandfather." He continued his little joke as his friend sighed at his antics.

"Actually, I'm moving." Ripping off the bandaid as they say. Except it was more like when you rip it off but only get halfway through and now half of it is hanging on for dear life.

"That's great! Where you moving too?" The news made him happy to hear his friend was moving from the small place he used to live in. Not that he didn't like the place, but he did think it was time for a move. The building itself was even beginning to fall apart from how old it is.

"Your couch." Tsutomu plainly said, no trace of any emotion behind it.

"Excuse me?" If Kenjiro wasn't wearing his mask he would quite literally look like the smiling emoji.

"Its a whole mess. I just need a place to crash for a bit until I can sort things out." He was explaining but it was difficult on his end since he was trying not to go into detail.

"You can stay as long as you want. Some company wouldn't hurt me. But why so suddenly?" The copperhead would quite honestly love having some company, he was just worried about his friend.

"Well you know how my grandma lives there and how she's kinda the only family I really have left?" His grandma was honestly a sweetheart and everyone would die for her. She lived in a retirement home only 15 minutes away from Kenjiro's house.

"Mhm." He hummed in acknowledgement.

"I just wanna be closer to her. Plus you live a short drive away from her so I thought why not." If even possible his tone was getting more cheery by the second.

"Well I for one cannot wait till you get here. When you coming?" Kenjiro too was getting happier as the conversation went.

"Uhm- well I'm kinda already here." The copperhead took one last turn and finally saw his house. Along with a familiar head of black hair. Tsutomu waved at his friend who was running towards him. While standing up from his spot on the floor he was tackled to the floor. The landing surprisingly didn't hurt as much as he thought it would.

"Oh you jackass! You came all the way here and didn't tell me till now!" Kenjiro was helping the other up from the floor as a smile was plastered on his face.

"I wanted to surprise you." Tsutomu was wearing the same happy, carefree smile.

"I'm glad you're here." He gave him one last hug before inviting him inside. While unlocking the front door he noticed the broken plant pot that was kicked to the side. Then he realized how much of a hazard his new roommate would be. Making a mental note to hide all the glass cups later, he gave a tour of the house. Not that it was needed since Tsutomu already got a house tour when it was first bought over FaceTime.

It was only around 2 PM so they still had time to do things. Kenjiro realized how uncomfortable it would be to sleep on a couch for who knows how long. He did have a guest bedroom but it was messy and mostly used for storage. Nonetheless he grabbed a broom and started cleaning it out so his childhood best friend could sleep comfortably. When Tsutomu saw what he was doing, he started helping out. Time flew by as the two cleaned and listened to music at full blast.

A quick rock, paper, scissors game on who would have to kill the spider later and they were now sweeping the floors and remaking the bed. By the time they finished, they were exhausted. Instead of trying to cook something they ordered a pizza and watched a movie.

"Oh my god, we forgot to tell Tendou that you're here." Tendou was very fond of the younger one. Even at times being protective of him.

"He's so gonna kill us." Tsutomu back in high school when he forgot to say he wouldn't be at school cause he was sick. Not even a full two hours into school and the red-head was knocking at his window.

"We're gonna be the next murder documentary on Netflix." While they were talking about their demise, Kenjiro's phone rang. It was none other than the one and only Tendou. They shared a look as they saw the contact name and decided to let it ring. Both of them ignored the call and went back to the movie.
