Maybe it is fair to assume that maybe...just maybe, Dazai and Chuuya's relationship isn't the greatest. They've always had a weird dynamic ever since the beginning.

It's just that none of this had to go so badly.

Their actual arguments were so frequent that they would almost forget that they were together. Teasing, name-calling, that was considered different—that was being playful. When they were teenagers? That was a full blown argument.

Not to say that they don't still argue. Even as adults, their consistency with arguments is still frequent. But, on the brighter side of things, they aren't as immature during them. Building an understanding with someone can be difficult, but Chuuya and Dazai? No, they've understood each other right when they first laid eyes on the other.

Well, Chuuya did think that Dazai was some weird, edgy, kid at first—not that he was wrong about that assumption, it's just...Dazai was weirdly mature for their age? And it was interesting, at first, seeing someone the same age as you act so responsibly in front of others. Eventually, it became saddening to see Dazai act that way in front of people.

Chuuya would always wonder about him.

Like, what happened to him?

Does something happen to people when they become painfully mature? Or is that just what most people assume? He doesn't know how it works, but he wants to know about Dazai.

It's strange how Dazai didn't even say anything about himself even when they got together. He didn't expect much—opening up is a process and Chuuya is very aware of the fact that it takes time—but he expected something—

Where did he come from? Where was he born?

But, nothing like that, though on the plus side, Dazai was very affectionate towards him. And throughout the time they've spent together, Chuuya loves the idea of Dazai taking care of him after Corruption.

It's not that he needs the protection, or worry. Trust him, Chuuya is actually very independent when he's not put beside Dazai. Because God knows why Chuuya suddenly becomes a little flower when he's next to Dazai.

He simply adores how caring Dazai becomes when he's in a state like that. All Chuuya actually needs is a little sleep and he's alright again. He doesn't need the heated blanket, stacks of food and drinks—fuck, he loves it when Dazai brings him wine—extra hugs, more time to watch movies with him, and his favourite of all, extra kisses.

So, yeah, Dazai becomes extremely cautious after Chuuya has used Corruption.

Dazai is normally like that when they're not in some sort of fight, but it always seems more soft after a mission like that.

The first time Chuuya used Corruption, Dazai let him sleep on his lap for a while, and then he ended up carrying him back to the Port Mafia. Chuuya's mind was hazy at the time, he had no idea what was going on. He almost feared he was kidnapped—but after feeling the familiar body underneath him, holding onto his legs as he slept on the other boy's back—figuring out it was only Dazai calmed him down.

Sometimes, Dazai would pick Chuuya that way only to mock him from that day. He had told him that Chuuya kept mumbling random words while he slept. And—Dazai's most favourite lie—he said that Chuuya even barked.

He only lied so he could, well—

Prove a point.

Because as Dazai would say, "a dog is always loyal to their owner."

And honestly, Chuuya first thought was that it was weird. Then when they got older, he even made the assumption that it might be one of Dazai's odd kinks. Not that he knows, he would never stoop that low in his life. Plus, Dazai somehow picked up on the assumption? So he had to clarify that Chuuya's only a dog because he lost the bet that he was so sure he could win, and that it wasn't because it "turned him on".

Does it sound like he's lying about it? Yes.

Is he actually lying about it? Absolutely not.

Chuuya's life may have been better if he didn't ask to have a rematch with Dazai in the arcade game. He'd save himself from being called a dog, however, he always wondered what it would be like if he had won.

Dazai, a dog to Chuuya for the rest of his life?

That bastard would probably manipulate his way out of it for all he knows.

But...the idea of having a Mafia Boss be your dog is definitely conflicting. Okay, maybe he should stop using the word dog

Point being, technically, Chuuya already has Dazai wrapped around his finger.
