'y/n, you okay now?'

A tear drops from my eye

'yeah'

I wiped it off and smiled. Yeji hugs me tightly.

'hey look, I know it's not gonna be easy and it won't get any easier for time being but maybe take some time off and sleep on it. Rethink your decision?'

'no it's okay... I've thought about it long enough and it's about time. I don't know how much longer I can hold up.'

Yeji hugs me even tighter

'I'll go with whatever you decide.'

'okay'

We walked out to find the boys but saw Yeonjun with them. He ran up to me.

'y/n! I was looking all over for you!'

Yeji pushed him away

'Yeonjun-ah, she's tired, leave her alone. I'm taking her to the infirmary.'

'I'll come find you later then.'

Yeji brings me to the infirmary. I stayed there for the rest of the day.

It's like pure pain

It's getting harder to breathe

I grab my inhaler and breathed in and out. My pulse calmed down and it was easier to breathe. I took in a deep breathe and sigh.

I need to stop relying on that inhaler.

I lie on the thin mattress and closed my eyes. The metal spring pocking into my back.

The smell of ointment. A toddler had just fell down and came to get it patched up.

It was getting harder to keep my eyes open.

I'm just gonna take a small nap then wake up and go back to class.

R I N G

The school bells rang and I jumped out of bed, Yeji had just walked into the infirmary.

'gosh I wish I could skip class like you. How lucky you are.'

'I doubt you'd like to be in my circumstances.'

'i guess you could say so.'

She sits beside me.

'hell, Taehyun's so annoying. He kept asking me what happened to you. Can't you just tell your boyfriend already?'

'he'll know by the end of today.'

'right... What if Niki or Jake doesn't tell him?'

'then you can tell him if he asks.'

'gotcha. Anyways let's go, we're gonna be late for briefing'

I grabbed my backpack and head off to the gym hall with Yeji.

My heart pounds faster every step I take. The closer I get to the hall, the more tension fills my mind.

'captain! You're finally- Where's your Jersey?'

Sana, one of the team's best shooters, asked me.

'Sana, can you gather everyone? Cap's got something to say.'

Yeji said putting her gym bag on the bleachers.

'uhm sure'

She goes and calls everyone to the bleachers. After everyone was seated, I spoke up.

'how's everyone these days? Practicing hard? Girls, your game's in 2 weeks and boys, in 1 week. We've got no time to play, I hope you guys are grinding hard.'

'says the one that hasn't been coming to practice at all.'

Jay spoke up and others agreed.

'that's what I want to talk about today.'

Shit, shit I'm getting nervous. Why am I getting nervous? I've been planning this for weeks.

'I'm pretty sure most of you know it, I have very mild asthma, which allowed me to play basketball.'

'recently;'

I gulp

'it's- its been acting up.'

'what do you mean?'

Momo asked

'well, it's getting harder for me to breathe, I need my inhaler everywhere I go now.'

'so what are you trying to say?'

Okay, lay it out slowly.

'I'm quitting. Today, exactly at this time, marks the end of me playing basketball.'
