Everyone was shocked and no one spoked until Sana spoke up.

'but we're having our preliminaries in a few weeks! You can't just quit on us like that!'

'Sana, I understand how you feel, I planned to leave after the preliminaries but I can't. At my current state, I can't even play up to half time. Much less play a full game'

I looked around. Everyone looked worried.

'look, I trained you guys, I know each and every one of your potentials and I know that you guys can make it without me.'

'you're fully quitting? Even as a coach?'

Niki asked

'of course I'll still be training you guys, I'll still be your coach, teach you the tactics but I'm not gonna be leader anymore. I'm appointing a new one for the girls, boys, Sunoo will remain as yours'

'so who's gonna be our new cap?'

'Vice-cap will be moved up of course, meaning Yeji will be your captain now and your new vice-captain will be Jihyo. Congratulations girl.'

Everyone applauded and congratulated her.

'I still can't believe it. Not having you on the field.'

Momo sighed

'Momo, you don't need me to win. You're all good enough.'

'no we're not!'

'okay enough, I don't want this kind of negativity on the team. Everyone, 3- pointers 20 times please, captains, please stay back.'

Everyone went off to do the drills.

'y/n, are you serious?'

Sunoo asked me, clearly still in shock.

'yeah, yeah I am.'

'basketball without you is completely different.'

'I'll still be here.'

'yeah but you're always the one that scores.'

'that's why I'm training Sana. I see potential in her.'

'I trust your word, y/n.'

'we'll win this time. The nationals.'

We lost the winter nationals by coming in first runner up last year so we're training extra hard for it this year.

'if we can't, we still have one last year to try but I'm positive with how much we've trained, we'll make it.'

I glanced at Yeji and Sunoo. They looked worried. I stood up and placed my hands on their shoulders.

'chill out, how are you gonna lead the team with such a depressing aura?'

I smiled. Sunoo chuckles and smiled too.

'she's right. We can make it. The dragons aren't gonna make it this year. We'll win.'

'heck yeah we will.'

Yeji smiles

'now, once they're done with training, I've got a gift for all of us.'

'oo I wonder what it is'

Sunoo rubbed his hands together.

'you'll see afterwards, anyways, you two go do your drills! Finding excuses to not now?'

I stood up

'where are you going?'

'going to get the gifts.'

'need help?'

'nah, go now!'

'yes ma'am'

They run off to do the drills. I walk out of the hall and went to the P.E. Department.

They're gonna loveee it

There were 2 big boxes lying on the floor.

Seems like I gotta make two trips.

Just then, Taehyun enters the room. He was wearing his athletics club's singlet.

Why does he lowkey look hot?

'hey Tae!'

'yo'

'training?'

'yeeep'

He looks around and takes the batons. He walked towards the door then stopped and turn around.

'do you need help with that?'

'I can do it myself.'

'sure? You'll have to go two trips then.'

'yeah no worries I got it.'

'stay here, I'll pass these batons to coach then help you.'

'no its-'

'be right back'

He dashed off and came

'wow that was fast'

'of course, I'm the fastest runner in school. Anyways, what are these?'

'our new jerseys'

'oh interesting'

I took one box up. It was light but big so I couldn't see in front of me.

'need help there?'

'nah I've got-'

I took a few steps back but didn't know there was something behind me.

'watch out!'

Everything happened so quickly. The only thing I knew was that I tripped and now I'm in Taehyun's arms.
