500 years had passed and yet the stars still remained the same.
after years of being separated from your sibling, you finally meet someone who could fill that gap. for a while it was peaceful, but even so, the times were changing, and eventually, y...
500 years had passed and yet the stars still remained the same.
or so they say. you hadn't been alive at the time of the khaenri'ah war when your nation and its people had been destroyed by the archons of teyvat, but you trusted their word. it was all you knew.
in the walls of the neglected house, which had once served as the royal palace for the eclipse dynasty, sat two children.
one had dark blue hair that reached just above his shoulders and eyes of the same colour to match. the other had h/c hair that was in twin braids and e/c eyes.
the perhaps most startling thing about their appearance though was the golden star in both of their left pupils. a mark, of their difference, and of their burden to be shared.
the two sat in peaceful silence until you turned to face the blue-haired boy, nervously clenching your hands.
"is it true what he says? are you really going away?"
there was a small silence before the boy looked up at you again, and smiled sadly.
kaeya alberich
"it appears so."
tears brimmed in your e/c eyes and your voice began to shake.
"for how long?"
"he says as long as it takes for me to complete the mission."
"but that could take years!"
the silent tears were running down your face now.
"I'm going to miss you."
kaeya alberich
"i know."
the tears were dripping down the boy's face as well now.
"i got you something for when you go away."
you said, wiping the tears away from your face, as you held out an eyepatch.
"'cause you'll have to hide your eye, right?"
the boy took the eyepatch, carefully clutching it close to his chest.
kaeya alberich
"i- thank you."
a noise at the door of the room alerted you both to the presence of another person, and as you turned around, you saw your father.

"it's time for you to go now."
desperately, you clutched at the boy's arm, looking into his eyes.
"don't forget me, okay?"
at this, he laughed a little.
kaeya alberich
"i won't."
he walked over to where your father waited, before turning around.
kaeya alberich
"goodbye, little sister. i promise i'll make our family proud."
at this, you smiled again, though fresh tears were streaming down your face.
"goodbye, big brother. until we meet again."
and you watched, as the only person who had ever really felt like family walked away from you, and you were left alone again, in the land of dust and ash.
