Chapter three

We're at our field waiting for Ed and Bella to arrive. I'm practicing swinging as I wait since my team is up to bat first. I see Ed and Bella walking towards us and I vampire run over to them.

"Hi you two! What took so long were you two doing some backseat bingo?" Bella looked at me confused. We started walking towards the field

"Alex, your fifties talk slipped."

"I don't mind it's just us after all." I smiled.

"What does backseat bingo mean?" Bella asked.

"It means two people making out in the backseat of a car. I'm sorry if I talk fifties."

"You grew up in the fifties?"

"My teenage years, yes, I was born in 1939. When I'm with my family I talk fifties."

"That's nice." I smiled at her and we walked over to my family. When we arrived Esme and Emmett came up to greet Bella.

"Glad you're here. We need an umpire." Esme says to Bella. Emmett smiles his big crooked smile.

"She thinks we cheat."

"I know you cheat. Call 'em as you see 'em, Bella." Esme said. Rose steps up to bat and practices swinging. We hear some thunder.

"It's time." Ali said. Rose nods her head and gets ready. Ali pitches the ball and Rose hits it, sounds like thunder, and starts running.

"OK now I see why you need the thunder." Bella says to Esme. The ball goes into the woods and Ed disappears after it.

"That has got to be a home run." Bella says.

"Edward is very fast." Esme responds. Rose is running around the bases in a blur. I see Ed throw the ball to Esme.

"Come on Rosie!" I say. Esme catches the ball a millisecond before Rose gets to home.

"Yer out." Bella says. Em celebrates and Rose glares at him.

"Aw come on babe it's just a game." Em shouts. Rose gets up and glares at Bella, she cowers a bit under Rose's glare.

"Nice kitty." Carlisle says patting her on her shoulder.

"Nice try Rose." I say smiling at her. She smiles back.

Carlisle steps up to bat next. Ali winds up and pitches. Carlisle hits it and starts running. Em and Ed both run towards the ball and collide mid air with a sound like thunder. Carlisle is safe! When Ed and Em landed Ed shoots Em the finger.

"Ed be nice!" I shout. He playfully glares at me.

Jazz is next. Ali winds up and pitches. Jazz starts running. Em climbs up a tree and catches the ball and tosses it back. Jazz is out.

"My monkey man." Rose says to Esme and I, I laugh a bit.

It's my turn to bat. I step up and Ali pitches it. I hit it and it goes verrry far into the woods. I start running and so does Ed. I ran around all the bases and headed to home. I run past home and see the ball just now reach Esme. Rose and Jazz hug and congratulate me.

It's Rose's turn again. Ali pitches and Rose hits it. I see Esme's hair get blown in her face. Rose starts running.

"Stop!" Ali yells and looks behind her. All of us look to the woods. We can all hear, see, and smell other vampires. Those who weren't at home base run back.

"They were leaving then they heard us." Ali tells Ed.

"Lets go." Ed says to Bella.

"It's too late." Carlisle says.
