Thirty-Three

It was quite embarrassing to apologize to the uncles and aunts for running off, but was even more embarrassing when the adults had to apologize back with grandmother scolding them. While danny sat with Dylan and David inside playing Uno inside, I was out walking around with Sarah as she was live streaming on her phone answering questions and letting me also be in the live answering other random questions "How old are we? I'm fifteen-" Sarah began and I followed up "I just turned seventeen" I smiled at the small phone camera as I shifted the weight of the plastic bags into my right hand "angel!" there was yelling from behind which turned both Sarah and I's attention to see a blue shoulder length hair pretty boy jogging towards us "That's the end for this live stream-" Rae jumped letting his arms wrap around my shoulders and neck, his chin resting on my head. I glanced seeing the chat yelling to wait and wishing to know who 'the hottie' was "-see you guys next time!" sarah ended the live stream looking at Rae "You interrupted the live..." Sarah and Rae both got along well to the point that she'd prefer to talk to Rae than her own brother Dylan "Sorry~" he whined like a child "But I brought treats!" he held up a sack with some candy, Sarah even while she acted mature gleefully took the candy "Fine, you're forgiven" Rae smiled chuckling. Rae then noticed the sacks in my hands "here-" "I got them" he ignored me snagging them up as we walked back up to the house "They're back!" Aunt White called.

Rae nudged me with a smile It nice to have a friend like him, its like he's my Jay, but he's not interested in dating me so he's like my Jace "Oh Yong-Rae, you helped carry the sacks!" Mom came out smiling and he nodded breaking off from my side walking with her inside, Sarah and I shared a look of shock for moms sudden openness towards the childhood friend. Shrugging it off I walked inside where danny and my cousins were sitting and playing Uno. I opened the kitchen door which was small and mom was already sweating away making the food "Mom let me-" "no, you go talk with your cousins and have fun" she had a strict tone and Rae moved into the smaller room "I'll help!" "no no no you should go talk with-" "Nah they're busy and it'd much better to talk over food, I can help, Angel can go rest" I blinked looking at Rae. He took off his hoodie placing another plastic bag beside his foot which held ingredients for food as well, my mind wondered and I found myself zoning into the back of my head. Ever since Rae met my family, his bright caring personality immediately made the entire family make him likable, able to enter any conversation or slow any argument caused by Uncle fisher in his drunken state, he really was well liked by everyone so fast "....gel...angel" I shook my head coming into focus seeing the eyes of Rae filled with worry, he placed his hand on my forehead "are you feeling well?" "a-ah yeah, I just was thinking of something" "ah okay! Just go back and play cards with the others okay~" he began shoving me lightly out of the room closing the door. 

Our games we played were our childhood, the hopscotch outside and the hide 'n' seek all around the house. There were so many variations of each game and all of them kept us running about all day long. Sarah and I would climb trees, build small forts from popsicles on a table and see who can catch the most mosquitoes. There were games with rhymes, skipping and "cat's cradle." We played games of lyrics and clapping, games of dance, which got us yelled at for making too much noise having us go back to games of building structures from popsicle sticks. We all were busy, we were together with family and we learned how to get along even more. Become closer. Isn't that what it's all about? For thanksgiving? I thought to myself as David and I sat outside building a popsicle castle, Danny was watching Dylan copy dance moves from his phone in the front lawn.  The sun set in the sky as fresh colors brushed upon the sky as if the rays of pinks, soft yellows and tangerine oranges were destined to create a great work of art - one given to those open to capturing simple moments in the soul, and this was something I was able to spend with my family. Crashing came from inside then laugher, the front door opened and Rae darted out diving behind me, it jostled the table causing the entire structure fell flat "Rae!" I whined looking at the pile of popsicle sticks David giving out his own angry comments "Sorry but your uncle got upset he lost some money during poker" "You cheated" "No sir, you just suck at bluffing" uncle fishers face went red and he turned to stomp back inside the house "Rae..." I grumbled looking at him, his plump bottom lip stuck out as he began to pout, reaching out my small fingers pinched his warm cheek and I pulled it a little "You're lucky you're my friend" he gave a small triumphant smile sitting behind me, wrapping his arms around my stomach nuzzling against my shoulder with his chin. The wind blew and I could feel the cold air give my skin Goosebumps from the sheer cold temperature a small shiver came over my body, wearing only a fluffy long white rabbit hoodie with long ears on the hood seemed to not do much. Rae noticing my shiver hugged me closer sharing his warmth, something that reminded me of what danny would do. My phone began to ring and I saw Euntaes photo show up. I swiped up holding my phone to my ear "Hey, how are you?" "Angel! Hi!" I could hear faint dogs' barking in the back which was off "I'm currently on East Ave, should I turn left or continue straight-" my heart flipped "Wait you're here?!" "Yes! You invited me to meet your family-" I maneuvered my body out of Raes hold my bare feet thumping on the dirt "Angel! Your shoes!" Rae yelled going inside danny immediately took to my side jogging with me out the front gate "Vasco is here?" danny said "Yeah he is...Vasco, you should see a red barrel in an alley way up hill, you go up that hill, danny and I are coming to you-" "-you don't have to-" "-to late!" there was a hint of happiness in my voice, the happiness set aflame my body temporarily getting rid of any cold chill in the air. 

Our rapid tapping of dannys shoes and my bare feet against the dirt was the only noise besides our breathing. Jogging down hill I could see an outline of a muscular man, my boyfriend "Euntae!" He looked up with a smile, going down hill gave extra momentum of speed as I crashed into Vasco my arms around his neck. He easily took the full force of my speeding ramming into his body "angel" he laughed wrapping a single arm around my waist holding me against him "Are you okay" I pulled myself away looking into his face I shook my head "No, I'm just glad you're here" I kissed his cheek which made him have the cutest tint of blush on his face, climbing off him I saw he had a hiking backpack slugged over his shoulder "Are you tired? Hungry?" pausing I could see he was in his usual tank-top and sweats "Are you cold?" he smiled pecking my lips, his warmth always inviting "I'm fine baby" the nickname caused my own face to heat up "It's so good to see you again!" Danny said to Vasco who smiled at my brother nodding "have you been exercising?" my mind wondered to when he was bullied with my cousins, poor cousins and danny probably sweated off half their weight "yeah I have" Danny puffed cutely as another set of fast footsteps came down the hill "Angel! I swear you're gonna catch a cold!" Raes panting face came down the hill holding sandals in one hand and his own coat in the other. Slowing he stopped in front of me "Sorry rae, I got to excited and ran off" "You seem to be into running lately" he deadpanned kneeling down putting the shoes down letting me slip them on "Are you family of Danny and angel?" Rae stood back up having me slip on the coat like he was dressing me like a child, pouting yet letting him zip me up I started to feel the warmth "Me? No I'm not family" Vasco blinked as Rae stood between me and danny wrapping his arms around both of us pulling us to his ribs "I'm their childhood friend-" he released danny holding out his hand with a smile "-My name is Soo Yong-Rae, my friends call me Rae so feel free to do such too" Vasco softened his smiled shaking his hand "You're the first friend from their childhood I met!" he was happy, I went back to Vascos side holding on his arm as we four trailed back up the hill Rae talking happily with Vasco over things happening in the house or things in the past. It didn't take us four very long to reach the house, Mom, all the cousins, and all uncles with their wives stood on the porch in curiosity. Mom seeing Vasco came right in front of him looking him over, fir the first time I could see vasco nervous, giving him a small squeeze on the arm to calm him "Come inside. The food is almost ready, you should be hungry and we have a lot to talk about" Mom turned walking on the path stepping onto the porch, Vasco glanced at Danny and I to which we shrugged, mom definitely had something planned. Rae swung his arm over my head around vascos neck, entrapping me between the two "C'mon, surely the guy Angels head over heels for isn't scared-" "Rae!" I elbowed him in the ribs making him bring his arms back covering his ribs running off, I chased my idiotic childhood friend into the house slipping off my shoes in the door way "Just wait till I get you!" I called out.
