BangChan walked briskly towards the library. It had been a good few years since he stepped foot in a high school. And even longer time since he stepped foot in a place for kids.He felt gross and unfitted in the lose flannel and bootcut jeans; his normal attire being the tight REN HQ uniform that hugged his body and made him feel safe.
"Tag?" A lady asked as he crossed a small podium at the door. He smiled artificially and lifted the name tag around his neck. Counselor it said. BangChan could laugh at the stupid ploy, but it was his duty right now so he brushed off the fakery and tried to act the part.
He had a mission. Some twerp had cost REN HQ over a hundred million hits by sleeping with the boss's step daughter. Obviously they wanted a little reimbursement for their losses.
"Sir, you can go right over to table 4, He Xinlong is waiting for you." Another teacher informed as they pointed him in teh right direction.
"That's him alright." BangChan whispered to himself, a foreign feeling creeping up in his chest. BangChan didn't have feelings. This was alarming.
As the older got closer to the table his heart made a weird discovery. It could beat faster.
"Hi, Xinlong." He said with a mask over his voice. One that made him sound inviting.
The younger gave a small, shy smile and nodded his head a bit as if to say hello.
"No... this kid's really a threat?" Chan questioned internally.
::::BangChan sat back and thought about the day he had met the younger. He felt stupid and even childish for believing Ren wouldn't still come after him.
His eyes stayed glued to the road ahead of him as his softened heart began to callous over again. It was only an hours drive, yet the agony stretched to feel like a life time.He would have to explain what happened, receive a fresh Jade and fight Han once again.
It was no doubt the latter had gotten stronger over the year Chan had been living at the clock shop. Meanwhile he hadn't been physically fighting at all during that time. He was physically fighting the urge to take Xinlong on the living room coffee table but nothing much else.
He sighed heavily as he checked the boy beside him. Hanyu seemed like a nice enough kid, but still he felt off about him in a way. He was way too calm for the situation.
He had obviously met ZeYu before and knew the boy's character. The two of them had taken the Jade at the same time. BangChan to protect Xinlong, obviously, and ZeYu to protect Thilla's best friend.
The two had met through Tills and MingRui developed a crush, with little knowledge that ZeYu was already crazy for him.
ZeYu was more so Tills day guard at school just in case something were to happen to her, but he quickly fell for the girl's right hand man.
BangChan could remember first meeting him when he was just a 7th grader. He had a sweet face and small smile, yet it grew into a hardened face with nothing much to show for his handsomeness but a devilish grimace and work-blistered hands that were like sandpaper to the touch.
The two got along quite well at REN HQ, but outside that facility they were hostile and mean to each other.
Zihao sat impatiently next to the couple and twiddled his thumbs. He had always been an anxious person and potentially dangerous situations never helped his condition.
"You okay?" Chan asked, staring the boy down in the rearview mirror.
"Yeah." He breathed shakily, trying to relax his body into the plush seat. The car they had swiped was somewhat of a luxury item, yet Chan drove it as if it were any old beat up smoke roller.
"What? What do you think about Ren Shuyang?" Zihao blurted out randomly, very thankful that everyone but Chan and ZeYu had dozed off.
"Why?" Chan asked. He hadn't seen the kid since he was small, so he really had no idea how he was. The boss never really brought him around.
"I just mean, is he part of all this HQ shit?" Zihao asked again, a bit more nervous this time.
"Yeah, he's boss's kid." ZeYu tightened his grip on the sleeping Rui in his lap.
Zihao sighed heavily and decided against asking anymore questions. Frankly he didn't want to hear anything bad about little freshman Ren Shuyang.
If he was part of the kidnapping weirdos that took Xinlong, then he'd forget all attachments to the younger. But now that he knows that he is, he feels indifferent.
Xinlong laid next to Han, but not without a fight and disgust plastered plainly on his face. He couldn't do much since he was still handcuffed to the older, but he wasn't about to hold his tongue.
"You fucking creep. Get away from me." He spat as the older lay propped up on his elbow, looking down at him. To be fair Han didn't look very enthusiastic either to be laying there with Xinlong.
The younger pushed the other's shoulder so he toppled to the other side, signing heavily and lifting the cover over his body.
Xinlong was uncovered and dressed in a thin night set. He was cold, but he refused to share a comforter with that horrid excuse for a man.
He shivered, cold metal still rubbing his raw wrist with no mercy. At least Han's cuff had a pad for comfort, Xinlong now jealous of the simple luxury.
"You're cold Long, just take the blanket." Han huffed, throwing the fabric over the younger's body.
"No!" He cried, pushing Han and his fucking blanket away.
"Why are you so stubborn?" He growled, getting back up to look at the younger.
"Just leave me alone you asshole!" Xinlong yelled, turning from the older.
He could feel the heat of his teaes against his cheek. He wanted BangChan. He wanted his upstairs apartment and the colorful crocheted blankets. He wanted BangChan's early morning forehead kiss and his late night make outs. He even longed for the old lady on the other side of the shop banging on the walls to turn the TV down because they blared the volume.
Xinlong wanted to be comforted yet no one here could do that for him."Just calm down. We're not gonna hurt you." Han said softly, catching the boy's attention.
"What?" He sniffed through his tears, free hand wiping them away.
Han felt a funny feeling in his stomach. What was this kid made of? Some cherry wine that intoxicated you at the very first look?
On the very first day he couldn't have cared less if he was freezing of handcuffed to yeh bed post. But today he was sleeping next to him and worrying about how cold he must be.
He didn't want to think anything special of the boy, but Xinlong was hardly resistible.
"I-just. We're not going to hurt you okay. So fucking cover up okay?! It's cold." Han bombed, sweet anger rushing through him. He was so upset with how he felt.
Xinlong teetered for another minute before feeling another cold draft ravish his thinly layered body. He slowly pulled the plush blanket over his body and the heat shared by Han's body warned him almost immediately. His head sunk into the pillow, yet he was still so uncomfortable.
He missed his boyfriend more than words could express and he prayed all night that BangChan would just swoop in and save him.
