It's not over L

Light slammed the door behind him angrily.

Ryuk followed, wincing. 'Geez, Light. What's being bothering you lately?'

Groaning, Light stretched his back, ignoring Ryuk entirely.

'Oh come on Light.Aren't you happy to be back with your mother and sister now?' 

Light said nothing. He rubbed his neck and sighed. 'I guess I should go see Misa.' He got up and grabbed his coat and headed out. 

'Hey Light!' Ryuk said, doing flips in the air as he bounced towards Light. 'You forgot my apple.' 

'Sorry, Ryuk, but no apple for you until the cameras are out.'

'Again!' Ryuk froze. 'Do they suspect you already? Before you've even started killing yet?'

'Of course not. Even L isn't that good. They're just making sure that I don't remember anything about the Death Note and I won't do anything suspicious. But really, to put in cameras. It's so obvious and pathetic I almost feel sorry for the taskforce. But I have to adnit, it is effective.'

Sighing, Light turned the street. 

'They're quite smart. How are you going to kill people now? Hyuk hyuk.'

Light's face scrunched up in rage. 'They know about the Death Note, Shinigami, and fake rule. They even knew Misa and I were Kira. Damn it! This is impossible! Why was I so careless?! I was so close! My perfect world was inches away! But I was too careless. Argh!' Thankfully, nobody was on that street to witness the rage and confession of Kira.

Apart from Ryuk. He flinched and his eyes bulged. 

Light ignored him. 'Damn it, damn it, damn it.' He looked up at the sky. A brief flash of memory rushed through him as he remembered playing tennis with L. Maybe a god had sent that to him so he can look back on his mistakes and regret what his done. And think twice about what he was about to do.

Or maybe it was a god of death who sent him the memory so he can do worse. Because at that moment everything fell into place. Light's plan was utterly and undoubtly perfect.

'Mwahahaha!' Light burst out. 'Why should I worry? I'm god of the new world! Mwahahaha! Even the gods are on my side. Let's go Ryuk, we have some work to do.'

Ryuk followed miserably, rambling on about apples.
