'Cameras? Really? Again?' Light shook his head laughing. 'They're so stupid. Cameras didn't work on me last time so why are they using them again?'

Ryuk studied him, trying to figure out human humour.

'L was wrong.' Light continued. 'The task force is hopeless without him. You'd think they'd know better!'

Then he turned serious. 'But of course, if they're only using cameras and no bugs, then that would mean they probably don't suspect me that much. After all, the saw me let go of the Death Note.'

Ryuk chose this time to laugh. 'Hyuk, hyuk, hyuk.'

Light looked up, annoyed. 'What are you laughing about?' He snapped.

'Uh...We're laughing because...uh, the task force is hopeless, right?'

But Light was too busy thinking and ignored him. 'But no...they might think that there was a fake rule in the Death Note. No, Ryuk, you're right, the task force is hopeless. They'd never suspect me and they'll never think that there will be another fake rule in there!'

Light cackled madly. 'But if they ever do, I will use that to my advantage. Hya hya hya hya! Hya hya hya!'

Ryuk stared at him.

L sat in his normal position on his armchair. With a lollipop in one hand.'Another Kira?' He muttered quietly, licking his lollipop. 'No...it can't be...' He picked up the cooled tea and twirled his lollipop in it. 'But it's the most obvious explanation...'

'Ryuzaki!' Watari came in, holding a suitcase.

'What is it, Watari?'

'The kids at Wammy's House. One of your successors, Near, has some surprising things to tell you.'

L grunted and turned in his chair.

Watari opened the suitcase revealing a laptop. Opening that, there was a large letter 'N' calligraphy in the centre.

'Hello, L and Watari. I have being looking at the Kira case. My accomplice, Line, has helped me.'

'Go on.' L said in his monotone voice.

'Line has eyes that can tell if a person is innocent or not. What I mean is, she has artist's eyes. She has seen Mr Yagami, a Kira suspect's photos; she saw that one photo, taken before Mr Yagami's confinement, that his eyes were guilty looking. The next shot, taken after Mr Yagami's confinement showed that his eyes were innocent.'

There was a pause.

'L. Evidence have led me to believe that Mr Yagami is killing without physical contact.'

'And why do you think that?' L challenged.

'Line has seen Mr Yagami's hands. They are not calloused like a murderer's hands from holding weapons.'

L nodded slightly. 'These suggestions explain quite a lot. But how do you propose he kills without physical contact, Near-kun?'

There was a pause. 'I...I don't think that's possible.'

'Also, Near-kun. When you said earlier that Miss Linda can tell if a person is guilty by looking at their eyes - I do not doubt that. But she has only seen Mr Yagami through photos. We shouldn't rely on evidence from photos, Near-kun.'

'Yes, L.'

Nobody said anything for a while.

'Is that all?' L inquired.

A pause.

'Yes.'

'Then goodbye and good luck.'

Watari closed the suitcase and threw it into the fire.

They said nothing for awhile.

'That Near is quite smart.' Watari commented.

'Yes.' L said, nibbling his thumb. 'But it's really Linda-chan who did most of the work.'

Watari nodded his agreement.

'Artist's eyes, huh...artist's eyes.' This brought up a memory L didn't want to remember so he stopped thinking and fell asleep.
