Three and a half years ago-
The elderly man named Jeon Eun found Seokjin outside his house. Looking at Seokjin's condition, it looked like he would die anytime soon, his survival seemed almost impossible but Mr. Jeon still took him inside in hopes of saving him.
People with golden core were extremely rare in Gyeongsu and they didn't have anyone with healing powers. It was just normal treatments and medicines and Mr. Jeon's medicines were said to work wonders. So he thought he could still try.
Since life in Gyeongsu was simple and less adventurous, the people there rarely had any connection with the outside world. Hence, Mr. Jeon had no idea who the severely injured person was.
A few seconds after dragging Seokjin inside his house, Mr. Jeon saw him pass out. He quickly tried to check his breath and pulse and it wasn't ok. It seemed as if he was a few seconds away from death but still holding on. Mr. Jeon wondered what going him in that condition in the first place.
"What is happening?" He was interrupted by his son who was just back from the library.
Mr. Jeon didn't have the time to respond so he focused his attention on Seokjin once again. Jungkook moved closer to take a look at the unconscious person with bloodstained clothes and body.
He realized that he had seen that face before. It didn't take him long to recall those paintings in the books–
Rogue in Bosong
A disaster, an orphan
A contagious evil,...
Jungkook felt a flash of terror upon the realization. "He's Seokjin!"
Mr. Jeon just gave a nod and continued checking Seokjin's injuries, as if he wasn't affected by the news.
"You don't understand. He is dangerous! He was supposed to die a long time ago because he was a threat."
"You said 'he was'. But he isn't right now. If you can't help then don't interrupt!"
"You're really trying to save him?" Jungkook asked in disbelief. "What if he attacks you once he is conscious?"
"I cannot let a person just die in front of me when I could still try to save him, besides, does he look like he is in the condition to attack me? He's severely injured, has no golden core and even if he lives, it will take years for him to get back to normal."
Jungkook stopped speaking for a while, thought about his father's words.
"Ok. I'll help too but let's be careful. I still don't trust him," he said and helped his father to lift Seokjin up and put him on the bed.
Then Mr. Jeon started preparing to heal Seokjin's injuries at the same time waiting for him to start breathing normally and gain consciousness.
And after a few minutes, Seokjin was conscious.
"I'll try my best to save you, just hold on," Mr. Jeon started with the treatment.
For the next few days, Mr. Jeon tried his best, and Seokjin was saved. It took almost a year to completely heal those severe injuries on his back but he still wasn't able to walk like before. It took another four months for him to be able to walk normally.
During the healing time, Jungkook was so confused about Seokjin. He was cautious around Seokjin. He hated the identity- Seokjin that was mentioned in the books but being with him in person he seemed so much different and Jungkook couldn't really dislike or hate him.
And as time passed by, they almost became friends.
While Seokjin was feeling bored and guilty just sitting most of the time, not being able to walk, he kept asking Jungkook to play a board game named Jang-gun with him.
