The rest of the day Dipper waited for eight anxiously. He knew that they were going to tell him about the riddle that he sort of already knew about from being under Pacifica's bed. And since they didn't know that, he would have to pretend that all the riddle information was new to him. Lying was like second nature to him so he figured this would be easy. But as the meeting got closer and closer he realized that he was a little nervous.
For a while, he couldn't figure out why. He lied all the time and didn't feel bad about it. He was lying and betraying Mabel right at this very second. So why was he panicking at the thought of lying to the trio? Then he figured out that it was hard because he didn't want to lie to them.
He knew that their relationship in the past wasn't the best. They've been enemies since they met. But now that they were allies and they were trusting him he wanted to be worthy of that trust. Especially since Kathy was defending him and being so kind to him, even after all the crap he and Mabel put her through.
Honestly, he couldn't quite understand why she was so nice to him. He kidnapped her and then proceeded to parade around like her. If that happened to him he would be plotting the murder of the people who did that to him. Instead, she was insisting that they give him a chance.
Dipper shook his head. Kathy always was a special one.
"Why'd you shake your head?" Mabel asked him. "Did another girl send you a love letter proposing to you?"
Dipper almost forgot where he was. He also almost forgot that his sister was only a couple of feet away was Mabel at her vanity fixing her makeup for the final show of the day. Except he couldn't be because she was close to her breaking point. He couldn't forget that or forget where she was because he didn't know when she'd finally lose it.
"No. You know that I don't read those anymore. Not after that one incident where she followed us around, via the tracking device she hid in the letter." Dipper said.
"Honestly I don't know what you expected. Muggles are insane, especially around celebrities. I've lost count of how many times a fan has come up to us and acted as if we were great friends." Mabel sighed.
Dipper winced. "Yeah, that's not fun."
Mabel shook her head. "No, it is not." Then she turned from her vanity to him. "So what was the shake of your head? If it's not crazy fangirls then what is it?"
Dipper didn't know what to say. How could he tell her that he was just thinking about how Kathy was too kind and forgiving? That would undoubtedly raise a few questions. That might lead to Mabel going insane and him having to go on the run. If the trio had shown him anything so far, it was that life on the run was not fun.
"I was just thinking about how dumb all these muggles are," Dipper said. "It's amazing how we can get away with magic if we just say we're performing. And those muggles are none the wiser."
For a moment Mabel didn't say anything which greatly concerned Dipper. She wouldn't miss a chance to mock muggles. She hates muggles with a fiery passion of a thousand suns. If she didn't agree with him and take the chance to further crap on muggles then something must be up. Was he not believable enough?
Before his doubts could grow anymore Mabel let out a laugh.
"I know, right?" Mabel said with glee. "I thought this would have been harder but it's surprisingly easy. Muggles are so gullible! I almost feel bad for them. Not knowing that they are in the presence of true wizards. If they did, they'd bow to us. They'd worship us. Just like we deserve."
Dipper let out a forced chuckle. "My thoughts exactly."
Although on the inside his conscience was screaming at him. He couldn't believe that he lived with and befriended people who believed in pureblood supremacy. It was sickening.
