red light green light
part 2

We walked into the first game. A doll was standing in front of us.

"Attention, all players. After you enter the game please stand behind the white line drawn on the field and await further instructions." I wonder what game this is.

"Once again, will all players please stand behind the white line and await further instructions." a woman's voice spoke. She repeated the rules so everyone understood.

"What's that? Over there." A blonde boy spoke. his number was 250. "Looks really freaky. Damn, that thing has a freaking huge head." They both laughed at his joke.

I studied my surroundings. The doll stood at the far end of the place which looked like a playing area for little kids. The walls were painted. Making it look like we were in a desert.

I was thinking about what game it could be. Red Light Green Light? I played that with my sister when she was young. That was her favorite game.

"Here is the first game. You will be playing Red Light, Green Light. You are allowed to move forward when "it" shouts out, "Green Light," stop when "it" shouts, "Red Light." If your movement is detected afterward, you will be eliminated."

"Those players who cross the finish line without being eliminated within the five-minute playtime will pass this round."

Voices spoke from every direction. Everyone seemed to know each other. Not me though. I stood in the middle, By myself.

"With that, let the game begin."

"Green Light." The doll spoke. The two boys in front of me began happily racing each other. "Red Light." The two came to a sudden stop, the blonde was in the lead.

Unfortunately, He was going to fall but he caught himself with his arms.

"Player 324. Eliminated." The voice spoke again. A loud bang was let out.

Bang!

A gunshot.

"Green Light." the blonde's friend walked towards the boy lying lifelessly on the floor. "Red Light."

I wasn't sure what happened. The brunette boy ran towards the doors. BANG! He was shot.

Blood splatted onto a woman's face, causing her to let out a loud scream. Oh my god. This is not what I want to be doing. Death if you lose? What kind of sick game is this?

Most of the players began racing towards the doors. I remembered the rules, If your movement is detected afterwards, you will be eliminated. I stood as still as I could. My mind thinking a million things at once.

I can't die. My sister will... my sister will be alone with him. My uncle can't look after her like I can. He'd probably just let her die.

I'm not like him.

After a lot of gunshots and dead bodies, the place was silent. All you could hear were people breathing and crying. I felt horrified. Where is the girl from earlier? Number 067. I want to know she's alive. Something is telling me. She could be a good person. A... never mind.

"I will now repeat the rules. You are allowed to move forward when "it" shouts out, "Green Light" stop when "it" shouts, "Red Light." If your movement is detected afterwards, you will be eliminated."

Silence.

"I will repeat the rules again. You can move forward when "it" shouts out, "Green Light," stop when "it" shouts, "Red Light." If your movement is detected afterwards, you will be eliminated. With that, let the game resume."

I peered to my left, only to see 067. She looked scared. her eyes spoke for her. "Green Light."

Shit, we have to move now. The old man from earlier started walking. a big smile on his face. Maybe his brain tumor was making him not remember or something? How could possibly be happy?

I took a couple of steps forward. "Red Light." I stopped before I could get shot. The doll scanned everyone. Everyone. "Greenlight"

I began running as fast as I could. I just wanted to be safe. I felt a person running behind me. I hope it isn't 101.

"Red Light."

"Who is that behind me?" I ask, my voice trembling. "Don't worry I'm not going to hurt you" She spoke. "I saw you watching me earlier. Wanna watch me again?" It took me a minute to realize who it was. 067.

"What?"

"Green Light"

"Just watch me!" She chuckled as she appeared behind 101.  He was almost at the red line so she had to be smart. "Red Light"

"Who is that? I hear you." A gunshot was fired in the distance, causing 101 to flinch. "Someone who you've made a bad first impression on"

"Should I be scared?" He made my blood boil. She put my hand in his hair, tilting his head. "Let go of me. Please."

"Quit trembling, you jerk. He'll kill you if you get caught." She smirked. I could see 101's head shaking. He was trembling. "Green Light." 067 yanked his head backward, causing him to fall backward and land on the floor.

I watched. I watched her as she almost killed someone. What was wrong with me? What is wrong with me? I watched a crime. This is all a crime.

I am a criminal for stealing money. Everything is a crime here!

There were only 30 seconds left on the timer so I and 067 started sprinting towards the red line. Luckily we both made it in time. The two of us jumped onto the floor.

Most people started finishing at the same time. 067 and I's eyes met. We gave each other a soft smile.

I had survived the first game. Somehow.
