I managed to get dressed. I still felt the pain I'd felt since the glass bridge. I couldn't die. I wouldn't die.

My sister needs me. Saebyeok needs me and I need her.

"Okay" Saebyeok started. "If you're in pain at all today, I want you to tell me." She grabbed my hand. "Okay"

I looked at her lips.

"You know you're not going to die? I won't fucking let that happen" She whispered in my ear. And then my world exploded. Saebyeok's mouth was against mine, everything soft about the branding contact.

"Hurry up!" The man outside the door yelled.

Did we hurry up?

Nope.

We did not.

"Tonight's feast is prepared as a token of gratitude for the sacrifice and effort that you finalists have made, and to encourage you all to perform even more splendidly in the final game. Now please relax and enjoy your feast."

The table was in the shape of a square. Each of us is on each side.

I silently ate my meal. I felt eyes on me. Sang-woo and Gi-hun couldn't stop staring at me.

Kang- Saebyeok just shoved food into her mouth. I felt like I couldn't eat.

I wanted to be sick, I wanted to leave. I needed to go home.

After the meal, the men left a knife for everyone. My eyes widened. I looked around the room only to see Sang-woo putting the knife In his pocket. I knew someone was going to die tonight.

------

"Sae-byeok, Y/n"

Saebyeok grabbed her knife and held it up at Gi-hun. "It's all right. I didn't come here to kill you. She's been dozing off. I'd have killed her already if I wanted to."

"No you wouldn't have, I'm protecting her" Sae-byeok spoke. Still holding her knife up. I was breathing heavily now.

"I have this with me because of Sang-woo there." He held his knife up. "Protection, you know."

"You're not holding up too well, huh?" He turned to me. "No, it's okay. I feel fine."

"So how come you barely touched your food earlier?"

"It wasn't very well cooked, that's all. I breathed shakily."

"Stop lying, please"

"And if I'm hurt? Are you gonna try to treat it?" I gulped "You need to think about yourself. Just leave me. I'll be okay." Saebyeok knew I wasn't ok.

"Hey, Kang Sae-byeok, Y/n.We should stick together. We can beat him. Whatever the game, we'll help each other get through this as teammates."

He turned to where Sang-woo slept. "Show that psychopath what we can do. Share all that prize money and just run away."

And do you know what you're gonna do with all that money once we get out?

"I'd pay my debt off first. And buy a nice clean store in the city for my mom. She always hoped to run, a real store, not just the kind of little stall. And I would... finally start being a dad to my girl... for once in my life"

"How old is your daughter?"

"She's ten."

"That's also how old my little sister is"

"And where is your sister staying now?"

"With my uncle." I sighed.  That's why I need to get out. I promised id take her to Jeju island once I get enough money for us."

"There's so much in there. I think even with half, you'll have plenty."

"Jeju Island" Saebyeok smiled.

"Hey, Gi-hun. I think you and I should make a deal."

"What kind of deal?"

"Just in case either of us... can actually make it out of this hellhole somehow, we'll look after each other's loved ones, okay?"
