I walked out of the room where we played with our marbles, only to see G-hun, Sang-woo, and Saebyeok. They had all survived.
"Y/n" Gi-hun spoke. "Glad your alive" I nodded at his words, I was still upset from the previous events.
Saebyeok noticed I had been crying. She ran over and wrapped her arms around me.
I sobbed into her shoulder. I had to watch Ji-Yeong die.
"It's okay" Saebyeok whispered in my ear "I'm here"
"I'm here"
We had all been told to go back. So that's what we did. I didnt speak the whole way back.
---
A woman laid in a bed, I frowned. Who was it?
The woman sat up. 212. "Deok-su, honey, so glad you won"
"How..." 212 stammered "how the hell"
"What? You're looking at me like you've seen a ghost. Are you okay?" She scoffed. "The masked guys all called me this, "the weakest link." Like when nobody chooses you as a partner for things when you were a kid.
"Hey, this guy knows about it." Mi-nyeo pointed" The weakest link!"
I rolled my eyes. I was still upset after the last game. I only had 2 more to go. Then I and Saebyeok can leave. Together.
"And after that, they gently escorted me back to this dorm." Mi-nyeo laughed. "Because they said that it's all a part of a rule that in the old days not to let a kid turn into some kind of an outcast, I guess."
Mi-nyeo just laughed. I began walking over to my bed. I couldn't think straight. She was dead because she wanted me to live. Ji-Yeong was a hero to me.
"Don't worry about it. She was only a girl you only knew for a few days." Sang-woo exhaled. I sighed.
"See that man there? His partner was his wife." I looked to see number 69. He was sat on his own.
"Let" 69 began "Let's just stop all this. I can't keep doing this. I can't." He cried. "The majority must agree. Well, come on, let's get out. Half of us, that's all we need to end this right now. Don't any of you want to leave this horrible place?"
I felt horrible. I couldn't imagine losing the person I loved most. To be honest, I don't know who that is. Wren? But then one other name crossed my mind.
"Anyone who wants to go, stand up. Let's get out of here." 69 whimpered.
"How can you call yourselves human?" 69 sobbed. "How many of you can continue with this insanity just for the money? You just had to kill the ones you were the closest to at this place, and you're good with that just to get the money?"
"So what if we stop now?" Sang-woo stood up.
"You think your wife will stop being dead if we all go now? And she'll forgive you for letting her get murdered? If you can't keep going, then why are you alive right now? You should've been the one who died in there instead."
I covered my mouth. How could he be so cold-hearted?
"See that?" He pointed at the money. Money. That's the price. "That's the price of being in here. And your wife and the others paid it with their lives."
"No."
"And you wanna go and leave? You wanna start from the beginning again? You ready to do all that, huh?"
sobs were let out.
69 was still sobbing. "Starting over again from nothing with that guilt. And is everybody here ready to do that as well? Go ahead, stand up! Let's see who think they are." I flinched.
"Get up and get out of here!" Sang-woo yelled. God, I hate that man more than anyone.
Saebyeok's eyes were on me the whole time. My eyes peered at her. Our eyes met.
Before we could do anything, the alarm blared.
"Attention, all players. The fifth game is about to begin. All players, follow the staff's instructions and swiftly make your way towards the game hall."
