Ch10: Tight Spaces

Morning came slowly and the sun started to shine through my blinds, illuminating my dark room. I arose from my bed, my tired eyes searching for my phone before making my way towards the bathroom down the hallway. I closed the door before sitting on the toilet cover, turning my phone and putting my pin to check my messages. Eldon still hasn't responded to my question and I thought, for a second, that Eldon was going to back out, but it wasn't like we made a deal in the first place. Eldon was my only way to Sarah.

My mind wondered off to yesterday and the things that Eldon said about the whole drama. I don't know about him, but I felt like it didn't make sense. What did Emily write in that diary for Sarah to want it so badly? How does Sarah even know she has a diary? If I were to have one, I would make sure nobody knows even my parents. I placed my phone on the counter and my eyes made its way to my reflection. Since I found that diary in the attic, I never gotten much sleep and it affected the way I looked. Dark circles started to form under my eyes and wrinkles were starting to appear on my forehead.

I grabbed my toothbrush from the toothbrush holder and squeezed a tiny bit of toothpaste on it. I started to brush my teeth, my eyelids starting to hang from the exhaustion I felt throughout this week and I believe I could faint any minute now.

I washed away the residue on the brush and put it back to where I found it before rinsing my mouth with Listerine. The burning sensation of the mouth wash was present on my tongue and it caused me to cringe in pain. Trying to distract myself from the burning sensation, I grabbed my phone from the counter, curious to see if he texted me. I entered my pin and tapped his name from my contacts. My face lit up and excitement started to build in me when I saw his response to my question.

I thought that Eldon would be hesitant to agree  especially when he's 'working' for Sarah and I knew if Sarah found out, he could get in trouble, but the thought of him risking it, means he has nothing to do with Emily

I thought that Eldon would be hesitant to agree  especially when he's 'working' for Sarah and I knew if Sarah found out, he could get in trouble, but the thought of him risking it, means he has nothing to do with Emily. If he were to be guilty, he would cut all contacts with me and would deny any allegations against him. I grabbed my phone, not leaving the counter in a mess, and made my way out the bathroom only to find my dad standing in front of the entrance in annoyance.

"Took you long enough." He said, his white shirt tucked in his penguin Pyjama pants and his arms crossed over his chest.

"Why didn't you knock then?" I asked as I laughed inwardly without showing it physically. I knew he was trying to look serious but the way he dressed completely went against what he was trying to portray.

"I was going to, but you came out right when I was about to. Now, get out or I'm going to pee my pants." He said, shoving me away before closing the door tightly, leaving me to giggle at his choice of outfit.

I made my way back to my room and got dressed for school. I didn't like the fact that I had to go there after knowing Sarah could be after me and there's a higher chance she could be planning something. I placed the diary back to where I always put it and I knew, sooner or later, I have to find a new hiding spot because it's the most obvious spot in the whole room.
