Kane's POV
I know I probably scared her with the way I was acting but she has to understand that I won't be letting her leave anytime soon.
She's been in her room ever since I stormed out of there. Which was like four hours ago. I haven't checked up on her since I've been busy with work. I still have a lot I need to get done but she needs to eat.
I close my laptop and dismiss my men for the night. Once they're all gone to their rooms the house suddenly feels so empty.
It's dark. Too dark.
I shake it off and start going for the stairs but I hear some shuffling in the kitchen. "What the hell?" I whisper to myself while I slowly walk over to the area. The light is off so I know it was none of my men.
Did I dismiss my men too early?
Before I was able to turn into the kitchen, someone bumped right into my chest scaring the absolute shit out of me. "FUCK!" I shouted and swung my fist widening my eyes when the mystery person caught my fist and pushed me backwards. "You're rusty." I calmed down at the sound of that voice.
A smile crept onto my face and I flicked the lights on. "Remi" I called and opened my arms for her. She laughed and accepted my hug.
She still has her short bright red hair which complimented hazel eyes somehow.
"What the hell are you doing sneaking around my kitchen crazy ass?" She pulled away and shrugged her shoulders with a devious smile plastered on her face.
Remi is my childhood bestfriend. She's like that sister and mother I never had. She's only a few years older than me but she always helped me with girl problems and personal problems. I always told her she should be a therapist. She is such a good listener and gives the best advice and solutions. I haven't seen her for a couple months since she's been gone on a couple missions for my father.
Yeah, she's in the gang as well. She's actually one of our best.
I looked down at her and motioned for us to move over to the living room. "I heard you kidnapped a girl." She said as she flopped down on the little couch with her legs leaning over the arm of the couch. I rolled my eyes. Of course she knows about Azura.
"How?" I ask genuinely curious.
"How what?"
"How the fuck do you know everything that's going on when you been back for like two minutes?" She laughs and like before, shrugs her shoulders and takes a sip of whatever she poured into the cup I didn't even know she was holding onto until now. "Who is she?" Remi quickly changed the topic back to what she said.
The house is still dark. The only light being provided from a distance in the kitchen. I let out a tired breath, "she's just some girl I met at the club." I shrug. "No one special."
"Hmm," Remi squints her eyes as if studying me. "You suck at lying Kai" She throws her glass cup at me and I barely catch it before looking inside at the emptiness.
"Was this empty the whole time?" I hold up the cup at her and she nods. "So, you were just pretending to drink something for the last five minutes?"
"Mhmm" She nods while looking bored. "I- why?" There is so much judgment and confusion in my eyes towards her.
"For dramatic affect" She throws her hands in the air, "duh!"
I worry for her sometimes. Although, I can't say I haven't missed her. "It's good to have you back Remy, but I told you to stop calling me Kai." That name is short for my middle name Malakai and she's the only one who has ever called me it. But, it sounds so weird now.
