Azura's POV
Today is the day of the ball.
I don't even feel like dressing up to go to some lame ass party full of rich boring people. But of course, whatever Kane says, goes.
Kane had the awesome idea of having a meeting with all of his men this morning, so I wasn't allowed to leave my room. Not even for food.
I hear a soft knock on my door around nine. I knew who it was instantly by the gentleness of the knock. It was Jade.
"Come in." And she does. I look at her and smile. "I come bearing food." She hands me a plate of pancakes and a glass of milk. I moan at just the sight of these pancakes. I love food.
"Thank you!" I say as if it was what saved my life. She only laughed and sat down next to me on the bed. "I know how grumpy you get when food deprived." I laugh at the fact.
It's true.
But who doesn't get hangry.
Imagine not being allowed to leave your room because the man making you stay in his home against your will wants to talk to an extremely large group of men and women without being interrupted.
Yeah, not the ideal morning.
"You also needed to have some food in your system since the people here to do your hair and makeup are downstairs." I sighed and then gasped remembering I haven't showered or anything. Fuck.
I literally hate this morning.
I look into my mirror hanging on the wall and see the mess in my hair. Ugh.
"Okay," I look at her with a small smile. "You and I have to shower and shave before those people come upstairs." She gives me a confused look. I know why. I haven't told her that she's going to the ball today and that I already bought her a dress.
"You mean... you?"
"No, I mean us." I walk closer to her. "I bought you a dress when I went to the mall."
Her eyes widened and she backed away from me and looked at herself. As if judging herself and her appearance.
"I... can't." I roll my eyes and stand right in front of her. "Kane said no Azura."
I walk into my closet and pull out her dress. "You can't live your life by Kane's rules forever Jade." I give her a sympathetic look. "Are you seriously going to miss the chance to wear a beautiful dress and get all dolled up for the night?"
She took the dress and looked over it in awe. She was admiring its beauty. I did the same when I saw it.
It really is a beautiful dress. Hers was way more casual and less revealing than mine was. I know she already wouldn't be comfortable going to the ball in the first place. I wasn't going to make her become eye candy for a bunch of weird old men.
Although Jade could wear a garbage bag and still be stared at. She's really pretty. She fucking stunning in all honesty.
"So?" I gave her a hopeful face. Praying she would finally agree to let loose and have a little bit of fun. "If you're worried about Kane, I'll deal with him."
It wasn't a lie.
If he wanted to throw a tantrum about Jade going, go ahead. But he won't continue to hurt or scare her anymore. She is an actual person who deserves to live her own life outside his prison.
"Fine."
"Oh my god! Really?"
"Yes, don't make me change my mind." I laugh and rush to my bathroom all excited. She does so too. Just not as fast and excited as me. Even though I know deep down she is extremely excited.
