This is not a Soukoku fic but I would like to add since I love seeing the dynamic between the mafias.

she had to call for someone and a certain executive came to pay a visit.

Ryuunosuke had been having a coughing fit for the past few hours. His voice is now strained and he can't speak coherent words.

Gin looked at her brother with concern. It's not a rare sight for her to see her brother coughing occasionally. His health condition was never strong in the first place, due to them living in the slums back in the day. Ryuunosuke sacrifice many things for her, even willing to accept the hands of mafia in exchange for a better life. It's also due to his sacrifices for her that she was able to live a healthy life in exchange of his own.

She walked into his room and sit beside his bed. The clock stated that it's already 6 in the morning. They had to go report themselves at the headquarters sooner or later.

"Are you okay, brother?" Her voice is laced with concern, seeing as her brother was slightly dazed and his hand seems to never leaves his mouth. Ryuunosuke slightly nod. Gin was not convinced so she lean her head on his.

It's warm, she noted. He's having a fever. "Brother, you're not okay. You can just rest for today." Ryuunosuke shot up upon hearing her suggestion. His throat felt itchy and dry but he managed to speak firmly.

"No, I don't need rest. If I did, Dazai-san will not-" Before he could finish, he had another coughing fit. Gin hurried to the kitchen to grab a glass of water. Again, her brother's concern for his former mentor's acknowledgement is not something uncommon but for him to risk his health like this, it is irrational. "For now, just rest. I'll talk to Higuchi-san on your absence."

Ryuunosuke remain silent as he took the glass of water. He knew reasoning with his sister is futile. He knows how stubborn she is despite her quiet personality, especially when it comes to his well-being. In a way, it kinda shows that they're siblings after all.

Gin took her phone and head out to the living room, leaving Ryuunosuke pondering to himself. He's not supposed to stay still like this. He should take on missions. He should train. He should become stronger so that Dazai can approve of his worth. That he's more stronger than the weretiger. That he's better than the weretiger. That he regret leaving him behind.

All this thoughts somehow gave him a headache. He can even feel Rashomon becoming erratic over his thoughts.

Gin entered his room after a quick call with Higuchi. Ryuunosuke didn't even need to guess to know that Higuchi probably yelled at her over his current condition. Probably she will stormed herself into the apartment if she knows where he lives, that is.

Gin made an apologetic look. She stood beside her brother on the bed "Sorry, I don't think I can take care of you today. It seems Black Lizard have an important mission today."

Ryuunosuke just pat her head, leaving her bewildered. He forced out his voice. "It's okay. Work comes first."

"But..."

"It's okay. Go."

The girl reluctantly nodded. She stood up and head to her room, changing herself into her mafia clothes. She tied her hair and put a mask on her face. Holstering her knives, she headed back to her brother's room to have a quick look. She's still not keen on leaving her brother alone to fend for himself.
