Onyx

Part 7

This is set after they were banished, just after Ava and Stella's bunker, The Sanctuary, was completely fixed. Diamond has not started to hunt them yet. (this is also how Seth got severe trauma) (Regina's full first name is Regina-Caelum, and her nickname is RC)

Warning: Death

Onyx looked down at Regina, tears threatening to fall. Her sister has pierced the eight year old Valkyrie's heart with a crystal shard. This was a fatal injury, but not because of the wound. That had long since healed. There were small shards of crystal still inside, draining RC of her power. When she lost it all, she would die.

"Mommy," RC stirred "can you make it stop hurting? Daddy told me what happened. You could make it faster right?" She whispered. Onyx's heart very nearly shattered into a million pieces.

Onyx growled under her breath. Lyulf had agreed not to tell her. 'LYULF AVIS, GET YOUR WINGS DOWN HERE THIS INSTANT!!' Onyx was purposely loud with her telepathic communication, not even bothering to keep it private.

On the other side of the facility, Lyulf winced at his wife's volume. His sisters smirked at him. "Bro, your so screwed, she used your full name." Ignis laughed. Lyulf didn't even bother flying, he just portal jumped straight to the med bay.

And was promptly whacked in the face by Onyx's glove.

"Hey! What the hell?! Onyx!"

"Shut up. Just shut up." Onyx hissed, venom, pain and sadness evident in her tone. She dragged him out of the room by his wings. Lyulf winced in pain, terrified by the obvious changes in his wife. She was a lot more like the onyx spirit, lethal and unpredictable, and far less controlled. It dawned on him how hard it must be for her to keep the dark magic from corrupting her.

Onyx looked nothing like Skylor at that point in time, with a visible Dark Aura and her wings open to their full length. Dark fire danced across her wings and hands. Her hair had snapped it's hair tie and turned into fire, casting an ominous light across the room. But her eyes had changed the most, fully black, not reflecting anything at all.

The door slid open and Seth walked in, typing something in his tablet, unaware of the situation. Onyx telepathically slammed him into the wall and started strangling him to death, all without taking her eyes off Lyulf.

"I thought we agreed not to tell her?" Onyx said darkly, voice echoing.

"Onyx, what's going on? Are you okay?" Lyulf was panicking, worried for Onyx, RC, Seth, himself and he had absolutely no clue how to diffuse the situation. He sent out a distress call telepathically around the facility.

Ignis, Glacies and Lux had been on stand by for the inevitable, Lyulf screwing up and needing help, but were not prepared at all to face the situation inside the med bay. Seth's face was entirely blue from lack of air, Lyulf was freaking out and Onyx was had lost control of her corrupted powers.

"Onyx looks ready to murder someone. Oh, wait. She already did. Seth is dead on the floor, fantastic." Ignis rolled her eyes. "Can we not have a single normal Tuesday night?"

A scream rang through the Med Bay, ringing across The Sanctuary, snapping Onyx out of her trance. The fire on Onyx slowly faded away, as did her Dark Aura. Adrenaline coursed through the Valkyries in the room, all of them running to RC's side.

The poor child was writhing in pain, looking as if she was being burned from the inside out. Lyulf and the twins held RC down, allowing Lux to assess the situation. "Onyx, I'm sorry. There's nothing we can do." Lux whispered. "But there is one thing we could do. Onyx, if you end it and freeze her in Sky Crystal, then you can bring her back after... After we've defeated Diamond. That way, she also won't have to witness the fighting."

"No, no, no, no, no! Do you have any idea what you are asking of me? You are asking me to kill my only child." Onyx was nearly hysterical.

"Skylor, listen to me. I understand this is hard, but you can bring her back. It's not forever." Lyulf did his best to calm her down, but it was hard when he himself was frantic. He opened his mouth to say more but was cut off by another scream from his daughter.

Onyx held her child in her arms, sobbing. "Baby, I'm so sorry. I'm going to make it stop. you are going to stay with Grandma and Auntie Goldie, okay?" RC nodded, staring at her parents with teary eyes.

"I'm so sorry, baby." Onyx cried, her hands glowing the color of her old sky magic. Casting circles appeared at her hands and light blue iridescent crystal formed on RC's skin. "Remember that I love you, both daddy and me love you so much." Onyx fought the tears that were turning the med bay into a garden. RC was oddly peaceful for someone who was dying. She has a soft smile on her face, as if she completely understood everything that happened, and was at peace with the world.

"Good bye, Mommy. Good bye, Daddy. I love you." RC smiled as the crystals enveloped her face, sealing her in completely.

Onyx looked at the eight year old girl's face and fell to her knees sobbing. Lyulf did the same thing, embracing Onyx as she fell. Seth stirred and stood up, excess magic having revived him. The twins and lux were crying silent tears for the young prodigy. Onyx let out a telepathic cry of sorrow, the song-like cry alerting everyone in the facility, every single Valkyrie, of the tragedy. Lyulf and the twins joined in the cry, as did all RC's friends and family throughout the Sanctuary. Soon the air was resonating with beautiful music, a salute to the fallen princess.

I wanted to explain why RC isn't in any of the later scenes. This is why, She died. I wanted to make the story slightly sadder to make it feel more real. I know this is probably really cringe, but I don't care.
