Jasmine

"Mum. Why are there like 4 extra plates at the table?" I said bringing in a plate of naan.

"Hardeep, his brother and his parents are coming for dinner"

"aakhir kaar. Ranveer and I haven't even met him" I rolled my eyes. (About time)

"It should've stayed that way" Simran said, as she entered the house.

"Why are you even here. Leave." I pointed at the door. "No one likes you"

My mum slapped my arm lightly "are! Be nice" (hey!)

"Hardeep has a brother you know. He's your age, and single. I think you'll like him." My dad chimed in.

I stayed silent, ignoring what he just said, before walking to the room I share with Simran and went to go shower before everyone comes.

. . . . .

"So Jasminder, how are you studies?" Hardeep's mum asked me.

Her youngest son, Harpal, had not talked to me all night. Not that I cared or anything. I was just bored.

"They're going good. I'm studying to become a doctor" I tried keeping a straight face.

Before they could react, Arjun told them that I was lying and that I was actually doing History and Photography and English Literature.

"History? Shaabaash. History is very good. Very interesting."

"You know who else is doing History?" Hardeep asked.

"Who?"

It was Harpal

"Harpal."

Called it

"That's cool" I awkwardly smiled at Harpal who just stared at me.

I continued eating, ignoring his stare. Gods, they want me to be with him?

They continued talking until dessert. My grandma had made her famous rasgullas. They were so fucking good I could finish all three plates if I could.

Simran suggested that she and Hardeep should go out for some ice cream and some 'alone time' but that was overruled. Instead, Arjun had to go with them because he was the oldest brother and the most responsible.

That isn't a lie considering he's the 'golden sibling' just because he's a doctor. His annoying ass hasn't even gotten married yet. HE'S 32 YEARS OLD AND SIMRAN IS GETTING MARRIED BEFORE HIM. Although he did tell my parents that he doesn't mind them choosing him a wife because he wants to have a stable income before settling down but that's irrelevant but atleast Simran be out of the house and I can finally have my own room!!

There wasn't much to do around here because there are no parties until Friday and I've done everything I can. I could've brought my books but according to my mum and dad they were "less important than the wedding stuff" so that's fun.

11:45pm

"Jaz. Put on some sweatpants and grab a coat. Dadaji let us take his bikes out for a ride" Ranveer came into my room with Abhi behind him.

"YAY. OKAY GIVE ME 5 MINUTES" I said, getting off my bed and going to my closet.

"2 minutes" Abhi retorted.

"4"

"3"

"4"

"Thr-"

"Just hurry up." Ranveer interrupted, pushing Abhi out of the room and leaving with him before closing the door.

. .

THIS IS THE BEST TIME OF MY LIFE!!! I MISS LATE NIGHT BIKE RIDES.

I sat behind Ranveer while Abhi rode next to us with Simran behind him and Arjun rode another one behind us. Loser.

We stopped by a stall and Arjun bought some roasted peanuts but these ones were black meaning they would stain your fingers for a while but it was worth it!

The man gave the peanuts in a newspaper and Arjun gave it to Simran and I to hold.

Ranveer and I took the longer route home because we're just cooler but I thought this would be the perfect time to come out to him as bisexual because I always thought that he would be the most understanding.

"Ranveer!" I shouted a bit even though we were on an empty road.

"Yeah?"

"I need to ask you something"

"Go on"

"What do you think abou-" my question was cut short when a car came zooming past us.

I made eye contact with the person on the passenger side. He was a gora??? Wait- I don't know why I'm so surprised because North India is a tourist hotspot. Especially Mumbai.

He was actually quite pretty but that doesn't excuse the fact that he nearly killed us.

"SALI KUTTI." Ranveer shouted. I forgot he had minor anger issues. (Bloody bitch)

"Sorry about that Jaz. What did you want to ask me?"

Oh dear gods. I don't know if I should ask him now. What if he gets pissed? Maybe another time I guess.

"I don't remember. I don't think it was anything serious." I lied. I always felt bad about lying to him but I had to.

"Hmm okay then"

I'll tell him one day. . . Hopefully

It felt right ending it the same way I ended the last chapter.

Also! The peanuts part was actually when I went India and my uncle took my sister and I to a market place and we got these roasted, black peanuts which were incredible but the black was hard to get out your hands.
