Jack
It's been a few hours since.. That moment, i suppose.. Audrey has been quiet a lot, and I don't blame her.. The pain i had miraculously started to slowly fade away. Whatever she did, it worked like a gem..
I wanted to help her, but she had told me to sit.. She went to take care of the horses, and she had covered the corpses up with something. I just let her be for now, no use going against her.. I had lit up a well deserved smoke.. Well.. Deserved..? Not really, but my hands had been shakin' non stop, so.. Needed something to calm the nerves, y'know."You want some water..?" I heard her voice behind me and I turned around as I exhaled some smoke, noddin'. "Sure, Doll." I said with a light nod. She walked over to me, and sat down next to me. She handed me the water bottle and I took a slow sip. Ah.. Water was nice.. But I could really use some booze right now..
I gave her the bottle and she took a sip too, sighing softly. "Need something stronger..?" I asked her and she gave me this look I couldn't exactly place.. But then she nodded. "Yeah, i'll check the bags, see what i can find.." She mumbled softly. I shook my head, and stood up, groaning loudly. "I'll get it, sweetheart, you did done enough today.."She was about to speak but I waved my hand at her, dismissing whatever she was going to say as I walked over to the bags. We had a lot more supplies now.. Which was good.. I'd like to calm it for a few days.. A lot had happened..
I pulled two bottles of whisky out of one bag and chuckled lowly. Nice..
I walked back to Audrey and sat next to her, with a soft grunt. I handed her a bottle, which she wanted to decline at first, but eventually accepted anyway. She pulled off the cork and took a large sip. I had to keep in my laughter when her cheeks turned red after it.
"Nice burn, huh..?" I asked her and she just chuckled softly. At least she laughed a little again. She put the cork back on and placed the bottle next to her.I took a sip out of the bottle I had in my hands and extended my arm out to her. She scooted over to me and I wrapped my arm around her waist. She rested her head against my shoulder and I heard her sigh. "This day sucked.." She muttered and I nodded in agreement. "It did, Doll.. It did indeed.." I said softly and turned my head, planting a kiss onto the top of hers.
"So.." I heard her mumble. "This happens a lot in your life, Jack..?" She asked and I huffed softly. "Unfortunately.." I muttered. "But that's my own fault, Doll.. I never did live a good 'n proper life." I said before taking another sip of the liquid gold I call whisky. She just hummed quietly, not really saying anythin' about it.
She looked up at me and I handed her the bottle, which she declined. She really wasn't a fan of the strong stuff. "Jack..?" She said softly as she started to sit up. I took my arm away from around her and hummed in response, taking another sip from the bottle. "Why do you live this life..?" She asked and I stared at her. I didn't know why I lived this kind of life, but honestly.. Here..? In the West? You were either hardworking or an outlaw. "I don't know, Doll. I s'pose it was easy." I said to her, shrugging my shoulders. She gave me a nod and she sighed. I looked her over and then I had a thought.. I didn't know anything about this girl..
"say Audrey..?" I asked her and she cocked a brow while she looked at me, with a still somewhat saddened look in her normally bright eyes. "Hmm..?" She hummed as she tilted her head, letting those gorgeous locks of fire fall to the side. Sighing deeply, I looked away from her. What was I even gonn' ask her..? It's as if my entire mind went blank the moment she looked at me. I clicked my tongue, shaking my head at her. "You need some sleep, Little bird.." I mumbled softly, standin' up, leaving her by herself on the floor. "I'll take care of those bastards.." I took a swig from my bottle before putting it down. The fire that had been raging through my body had calmed down now, and things didn't feel as bad now. I heard her sigh and she shook her head. "I won't be able to.." She muttered softly before she also stood up. "Let me help you." Her light voice rang and I frowned lightly at her. "Just.. Sit down."
