Jack

I felt her soft hand on my cheek and our lips nearly touched. Oh Audrey.. Why didn't you just.. Stay away.. Silly girl. I slowly took the revolver she had been holding from her other hand. I kissed her, in a way that could only be described as.. I'm going to die today.

I pushed her out of the way, and it was like the world moved slower. I shot the bastard to my right before he could make his shot, but I wasn't in time to get Marshall.. I barely even felt it, and I felt my blood rush through my ears. I let out an enraged yell before lifting the gun again and shooting him clean between the eyes.

I heard my name being called but it sounded.. Far away.. I dropped the gun and my knees hit the ground. I looked in front of me, and I saw Audrey.. Panic written all over her pretty features.. I'm sorry girly.. For everything..

I felt her grab me as I sunk to the ground. Her mouth moved but I couldn't hear what she was saying.. The adrenaline that had been rushin' through my body was running out.. My limbs felt heavy.. I had taken a fall, a beating and a bullet in the span of an hour.. I wanted.. To go to sleep.. I was pretty darned tired.
She helped me down to the ground. Honestly the rock aint all that comfortable.. But I'd rather lay than stand right now.. I doubt I could even stand.. She said something again, seemingly still panicked.. Why was she being like that.. I didn't have pain.. I think.. Am I suppose to feel pain right now..? I aint all too sure about it..

She ran off, and honestly that hurt just a lil bit.. I wanted her to stay.. Like hell I was going to die alone in this place.. Although I ain't blaming her.. The poor thing probably never has seen death before in her life.. And I just made her witness it multiple times.. I guess I should be considerate..
My vision started to get a lil fuzzy, and I saw funny lil shapes on the ceiling of the cave.. I was also getting cold for some reason.. Is this what death feels like..?
I looked to the side, to where Audrey had disappeared and I sighed. I really wanted to sleep now.. I was done.. And tired..

But she came back, running as fast as her boots would let her. She dropped to her knees beside me, pulling a little blue box from her coat pocket. It looked funny.. It was made of.. Silver..? and it had a lil blue light.. How strange.. She opened it and more light came from it.. I must be dreaming.. Maybe my brain who is fighting that it ain't done yet.. And is now just making things up.. She pulled a needle looking thing from the box, it had a blue liquid in it.. I don't know what was happening.. I don't understand nothin'..

She kissed me on my forehead like a mother would do to her child before she raised her hand with the strange needle thing in it, and brought it down.. I barely felt it.. But whatever she did was colder than I already felt.. I mean.. I guess I was dying already.. What was a stab wound with it worth now anyway.. She looked at me with worried eyes. And that was the last thing I saw before my sight went dark.

Audrey

I saw him slip away after I used one of my emergency medkits.. I know I shouldn't have done it.. I don't even know if it'll work.. I doubt anyone in this era has ever had any proper medical care like we get. The medicine I gave him is extremely strong. It was first developed for soldiers, back in the day, when war and things were still a thing. It saved millions of lives so far.. It's like.. How do I explain it..? There's a certain ingredient in it, which scientists discovered about fifty years ago.. My time, that is.. It's natural, and found in animals that can regenerate limbs.. Like lizards and starfish. They made it compatible for humans, and even though we can't grow back limbs, it fixes wounds and things faster than the human body would do by itself.. Thus saving people from even the deadliest injuries.. The thing is.. Jack probably barely got any antibodies in his body.. Since vaccinations aren't a thing here, but.. I just hope..
