You were sitting in your usual coffee shop. At your usual table by a big window in the corner. Your usual book and a cup of coffee in front of you. But you couldn't help but feel like something was off. Like something or maybe someone was missing. You looked across from you and felt like someone should be sitting there. Like maybe someone used to sit across from you or right next to you when you'd come here. You shook off the odd feeling. Maybe you were thinking too much.
Lucifer was walking around. The archangel had felt off lately. Like he had lost something but he didn't know what? He had his powers. Maybe it was because he hadn't felt the need to cause trouble lately. Odd for him he knew but for some unknown reason he couldn't recall he felt like he didn't wanna deal with any of that. He had been wandering around with no certain location in mind when he found himself at a small little coffee shop. He felt the need to go into the shop. He wasn't sure why. He didn't eat. If he did drink it was usually alcohol like scotch or maybe wine. Before he knew it he found himself walking inside. The scent of coffee and sweets hit his nose. Usually, the scents would make him scrunch his nose in disgust. But now it made him kind of sad?
He almost felt like he was searching for something. Like something important was here and he needed to find it. What however he wasn't sure of. As he was scoping out the cafe and he spotted a girl. For some reason, he couldn't help but feel like he knew her. Did he know her? How could he? He didn't really interact with humanity. Not enough to actually know any of them. Aside from the Winchesters. Maybe she knew them? She didn't really give off a hunter vibe. Before the Celestial being could even register he started walking over to her table. It was almost automatic. Lucifer sat down and as secretly as he could he would sneak glances at the girl. She was more beautiful than he ever expected a human to be. Her hair framed her face bringing out her beautiful eyes. The dreamy look on her face as she was reading the book she had made Lucifer smile a little to himself. She looked over at him and smiled as she nodded. The angel swore his vessel's heart started beating faster. Why did she seem so familiar?
You had felt the presence of someone sitting at the same table you were. You looked up. Your heart felt like it fluttered. Sitting across from you was a man. He was tall with shaggy blonde hair and bright blue eyes. His eyes. They seemed so familiar. Like you've stared at them before. You felt like you've gotten lost within them countless times. But how? You were pretty sure you had never met him before. You smiled at him and nodded. He offered a half smile and nodded back. He was looking at you like he was concentrating. Most would find it creepy but you felt safe. Like he would never mean you any harm. Maybe he was doing what you were doing. Did he feel like you knew each other too? but how? You hadn't even met before. Had you?
"Um hi," you shyly greeted.
"Hello," he said back just as shyly. His voice. It sounded recognizable. Like you had heard it many times before. You felt as though maybe it was a voice you had not only loved but craved hearing. Or were you just going crazy?
"Have we seen each other here before?" you asked. You hadn't planned on asking but he seemed so recalling. Maybe you two had bumped into each other before.
"I don't think so?" he answered. But the tone of his voice made it seem as he himself wasn't even sure.
"I'm Y/N," you said politely holding out your hand. Lucifer gently shook your hand. His touch was cold but soft. Almost as though your hands were meant to be held in each other.
"I'm Lu," he said. When your hands disconnected a sense of sadness washed over you for a second. Like you didn't wanna let go. Why? You had no idea. "Do you come here a lot?" he asked.
"Every day," you answered, "they have the best coffee I've ever tasted, and it's a nice place to read,". He nodded to show he was listening though it was no question. The fallen angel could honestly listen to her beautiful voice all day. He felt like he almost has gotten lost in her voice before. But being as they had never met before that couldn't be the case. "Would you like a cup of coffee?" she asked, "I need to refill my cup,".
"Oh, I don't have any money," he told her. She smiled.
"No worries," she said getting up, "it's on me," she told him as she walked up to the counter. Generous. Definitely something not many humans weren't anymore. Could this odd feeling be because maybe for once he wanted to get to know a human? Could it really hurt to befriend just one? She came back and handed him a cup as she sat down.
"Thank you," he said as he sipped it. He didn't give much mind to the taste, "Is it ok if I ask you to tell me about yourself?". She shook her head.
"Not at all," she said with a small. You spent almost all day talking to each other. Both being so lost in your conversation you hadn't noticed the coffee shop getting ready to close for the night until one of the workers brought it to your attention.
"Guess it's time to go," you said as you both got up and headed out the door, "it was really nice meeting you Lu,".
"Pleasure was all mine Y/N," Lucifer said, "maybe we'll do it again soon,". you nodded and gently touched his arm.
"I'd like that?" you said, "have a good night," you told him and headed off. Lucifer smiled as he went his separate way. What neither of you knew was all the feelings of Deja Vu weren't just feelings. They were real. You not only knew each other. You loved each other. You were both hopelessly in love. only you were cursed to never remember. Just yet another twisted storyline of his father's creation.
