Sam's POV
- Three Weeks Later -
Everything is slowly coming together. Besides the fact that I miss my little man like crazy, all other aspects of my life seem to be aligning the way they should.
Ever since I confessed my love to Beau, we've been doing a lot better. I mean nothing too serious has happened. He's letting me take the steps I need to feel comfortable around him and I couldn't be more grateful for it.
I was also able to visit my moms grave after not going for a good amount of time. I spoke to her, got a lot of stuff off my chest, and walked away feeling about ten times better. I knew she was there with me when I felt a slight breeze hit me that smelled like sweet vanilla, my moms scent.
That alone made my day so much better than what it already was. I was currently hanging out with my boys the same way we used to back when I lived with them at Beau's place. We were outback enjoying the weather and playing board games - and don't judge us because you know you're never too old for board games! - when the bell rang.
The whole pack went out to enjoy the weather so it was just me and the boys. I asked, "are any of you expecting anyone?" but all I got for a response was a bunch of no's followed but the shaking of their heads. The funny thing is they did it simultaneously so they ended up looking like bobble heads in sync. Funniest thing ever.
As I neared the door I noticed the scent was really weird. It smelled of rogue and hunter.
This cannot be good.
The person knocked again and I slowly opened the door. I was surprised to see a girl about my age, with red hair cascading down to her hips, big brown eyes, and a bunch of little freckles around her nose and cheeks. She was beautiful but I couldn't help but keep my guard up. Who is this girl? And why is she here?
"Hi, are you looking for someone?," I kept my tone sweet and gentle not to scare her but to also not start anything, yet. There's something about this girl that has Summer and I on edge.
"Yeah, I'm looking for Beau."
What the hell?
"May I ask who you are?"
She replied, "I'm Elaine, his mate."
Almost as if on cue Beau walks in saying, "hey babe, who's at the d-" but stops mid-sentence. To say he was shocked was an understatement. "Elaine?" he whispered so low that I'm surprised she was able to hear it.
"Yeah," she answered smiling sheepishly at him.
"What are you doing here? How did you know how to find me?" I know Beau was going to keep asking questions but he stopped himself before I could tell him to just breathe.
"Well I've just been walking around and asking and I was pointed to this pack. I forget the name of the pack that it was, but I'm here because I want you back."
Hold up, wait a minute.
Beau told me all about her during the first few days that I'd met him. He told me how he opened up to her and she ran from him screaming like a banshee, saying she wanted nothing to do with him. That was almost 8 years ago.. So why come back now?
