is this book even any good? i really don't know at this point.

"Aleena? What are you doing here?" The girl lifts her head from laying on the couch to see her best friend,

"Bella! Just visiting." She laughs awkwardly as the brunette gives her a weird look,

"In the middle of the night?" Aleena shrugs with a sheepish smile.

"I swear you have Esme wrapped round your finger she's made you a fresh fruit smoothie." Rosalie says entering the room and handing a red drink over to the witch who grins as the gorgeous girl sits next to her,

"I swear I love Esme with my whole heart."

Aleena let's out a hum placing her head on the girls shoulder.

"What the fuck." Bella whispers but everyone except the witch hears and Rosalie snaps her head to her giving a glare,

"Issue?"

"Bella Aleena is Alice and Jaspers mate" Despite whispering in her ear Edward winces at the high tensions in the room.

"So she knows?" Edward nods and Bella angrily turns to the witch,

"You know?!" At the tension in her voice Aleena folds into herself slightly and Rose stands up,

"Don't-"

"Rose!" Esme's voice cuts in, "girls we've got a bigger issue at hand apparently so why don't we discuss this later?" No one replies and the room is still tense but Esme takes this as a win and comes to sit down waiting for the rest of the family.

"So who was it? Someone we know?" Alice asks as soon as she enters the room and Aleena's brows scrunch together in confusion,

"Just a stranger. I didn't recognize his scent."

"A nomad passing through?" Esme asks but Rosalie instantly shuts the idea down with a dark thought,

"A passer-by wouldn't have left Bella's father alive."

Just the Jasper comes bounding in the room and Aleena turns to Rosalie as he speaks,

"What's happening?"

"Alice didn't tell you? A vampire scent was picked up in Bella's house." Aleena eyes widen as she turns to look at her best friend,

"We also take shifts, guarding Bella at her house." Carlisle speaks up for the first time this night and Rose sighs angrily,

"Another protection detail?"

"Rosalie." Her mother warns,

"No, she's right. You can't protect me, watch my dad and search for the intruder and for Victoria... And keep yourselves fed."

"I'm not leaving you here defenseless."

"Well, I'm not gonna let you starve. And I wouldn't be unprotected, I have..."

"What?"

"And I'll help!" Aleena couldn't stop the words flying from her mouth and she ignores the sharp 'no' she got from Jasper, Alice and Rose instead focusing on Bella's response,

"How could you help?" The witch ignores the spiteful tone in her voice understanding the girl was just a bit confused,

"Well..." The girl raises her hand and soon enough a gold mist comes floating up from around her palm wrapping round her arm like a snake, "sorry I didn't mention it before but umm... I'm a witch! surprise?"
