Hearing the door opening downstairs Aleena hopped out of bed rushing downstairs and into the kitchen where her mother, Sammy, was entering through the back door.
"Late shift?" Sammy jumps slightly turning round to face her daughter,
"Oh god." Aleena sees the tears in her mother's eyes instantly, it happens every time she sees her due to her mother's slight fear and worry towards her daughter seeing her still the skinny feigned innocent eighteen year old with her silver hair shining in the dull kitchen light. Sammy coughs slightly before speaking again, "yeah sorry darling there's a missing person case it's really stressing out the department. You should be sleeping it's late."
"I know I just thought i'd wait for you to show I'm here. Night mom."
"Good night."
Going back to her room Aleena flops onto her bed and, dressed in her white fluffy pyjamas making her look like she's cosplaying a sheep, curls up on her side and goes to sleep.
However sleep is not Aleena's friend that night as she struggles to get comfortable in the large bed, she much prefers a small bed due to her fear of loneliness setting in a lot worse in such the big empty space of a large bed. Aleena finds herself crying during the night missing her grandmother, mourning the life she was happy living in the countryside. At one point Ponyo patters over to her lying at her chest and nudging her in comfort. By the time Aleena is falling asleep the sun is rising and she can hear her mother shuffling around in her own bedroom. This is why it is not a surprise when around a hour later there's a knock on her bedroom door and her mother is coming in holding a cup decorated in rainbow polka dots.
"Now I know you're perfectly capable and a adult, or well... yeah. But I remember how grumpy you are without coffee in the morning so I thought I'd bring it before I head out." Rolling over in her bed Aleena sends a smile to her mother and collects the cup from her hands.
"Thanks mom."
"No problem. Well there's milk in the fringe, bread on the top, cereal in the cupboard and well other foods in the kitchen so take your pick. Remember you have to go to school tomorrow.. again, so if you need anything you might have to pop to the shops."
Sammy doesn't wait for her daughters response simply rushes out the room closing the door behind her. Aleena sighs at this sitting up to rest back on the headboard of the bed. Aleena and her mother never could spend much time together, not since the... incident anyway. And even less since her ageing stunted.. but perhaps that's simply because it made Sammy look old in public with a daughter so young.
Knowing she wasn't doing much today, and with it being Sunday, Aleena decided to choose comfortable clothes deciding to go with some grey joggers and her large black hoodie. Doing her regular hygiene routines it isn't long before Aleena is fully ready and heads downstairs scrunching up the note on the top saying 'remember to eat breakfast!' with the lying thought of 'i'll eat when i'm out.'
Checking the cupboards Aleena smiles, relieved that her mother managed to buy some cat food and as she places the large heavy bag on the counter Ponyo pops up rubbing against her leg.
"Hmm should of known the first time i'd see you today would involve food." After filling the bowl and giving it to the ginger cat Aleena takes a bottle of water from the fridge and heads out.
Aleena knew all her things would be arriving tomorrow but that she would need to buy some paper and stationary for temporary use until then so she takes note of the small shop that seems like it may have what she needs. Aleena is use to having minimal shops due to the place she stayed with her grandmother being even smaller and isolated then Forks.
It didn't bother Aleena that she was going to join back into high school at the age of twenty-eight as she missed most her high school experience due to illness anyway and is always hesitant to grow up, she's not quite sure she is mentally ageing actually, but that doesn't bother her. However, Aleena would have to join solely for the last year of high school as physically she looked nineteen and so could barely pass off being seventeen, but again, this didn't bother her as she would be in the same year as her friend Bella, it also meant that in a few years she would have a solid excuse to leave her mothers house and the town.
Seeing the red rusted truck in the drive of the Swan family's home Aleena smiles and stops rubbing her hands together moving her slim fingers to form a fist before knocking loudly on the door. It was now nearly eleven in the morning so she hoped the duo would be awake. After a long moment Aleena sighs and begins turning back round before the door swings open and a body comes flying into hers,
"Aleena!"
"Hey B"
Bella pulls back with a smile on her face and pulls the sleeves of her shirt down over her hands instinctively because of the cold.
"Come in! Sorry I took so long I tripped and was tangled in my blanket..." Bella speaks sheepishly while shutting the door behind them.
"I wouldn't expect anything different Bells."
"You look eh you look good A" Bella's face contorts slightly as she speaks and Aleena smiles softly, she knows what Bella means she means she looks slightly better then last time they saw each other,
"Yeah i'm feeling good. I rang yesterday I don't know if your dad mentioned it...?"
"Yeah he did. I've been up waiting for you to come for ages. Charlie got sick of me sitting under his feet waiting so he left for work early. You want anything to eat? Drink?" Aleena laughs at this,
"No that's okay I just had breakfast. Alsooo aww you missed me?"
"Shut up." Bella shoves Aleena slightly and they laugh taking a seat at the kitchen table.
"Don't worry I missed you too. I've had no one to make fun of for so long." Aleena drastically throws her hand over her forehead in anguish Bella only laughs in response.
"Soooo where was the not sociable Bella yesterday when I rang?" Bella instantly blushes, "Oh wait! I know! She was with her boyfriend! That one that left her all depressed a few months ago!" Aleena speaks it in a happy tone but Bella knows she's a little confused and mad.
"A, I know you're bound to be a bit suspicious but everything is fine everything is fixed and I'm happy again! We've seen each other at the worse so can't you tell i'm alright now?" Aleena takes a moment to look Bella up and down before sighing.
"Yeah I guess. He's getting a piece of my mind tomorrow though. Speaking of... give me a lift to school?" Bella rolls her eyes playfully,
"Sure." Aleena grins at her.
________
Quick point! Aleena has only known Bella two years and so no Bella does not know anything about Aleena and her gift or of her being a witch!
