scotty's pov

once i had finished putting boxes inside, i had asked my mom if i could go outside to explore. she of course said yes and i then grabbed my glove, a fisher hat and eventually left.

i had seen y/n, the girl i had only met about an hour ago going somewhere, so i just followed her in secret.

i had went through a back fence and wounded up in a sandlot where her and a bunch of guys were playing baseball. it was so cool.

they looked like real baseball players and of course, i thought maybe i could be one of their players and just stand and take up space.

next thing i know, i hear "watch out!" and the other guys follow along.

i look up and see a baseball flying towards me. i lift my glove and catch it but then fall on my back which makes the ball fall out of my hand. i groan a bit before getting back up.

i turn around and see the ball by the back fence but i hear growls coming from the other side, i hesitantly go and grab it and scurry back to where i was standing before.

"we are waiting." the small boy with the glasses waves his arm for me to throw the ball.

the rest of them all yell for me to throw the ball but i just stand there for a second before trying to find a stance to throw the ball.

i've never really thrown a ball before so i didn't really know what i was doing. i then throw the ball and it only flies like 2 feet away from me.

the guys all end up laughing besides
y/n and her boyfriend.

i tilt my head down and frown, "my life is over,"

soon enough, i run out of the sandlot, crying.

y/n's pov

"that wasn't even funny at all." i look up at benny.

he wraps an arm around me and i lean my head onto his chest, "i know, but at least you hit the ball."

i smile a bit and laugh, "i know but benny, i hit that kid."

he then starts laughing some more and i laugh because then he's laughing. i lift my head from his chest and move away. i jokingly hit him on the chest, "benny, it's not funny." i laugh.

the rest of the guys all start coming in wiping their faces of tears from laughing.

"great shot y/n." squints puts his hand up for me to high five.

i put his hand down and chuckle a bit, "i didn't even mean to do that, honestly."

"yeah we know," bertram begins, "your skills are shitty."

"hey, not too much grover."

he lifts his arms in a way and frowns since i had used his middle name.

"i have to get home though," i turn and see all of them frowning from my comment, aside from my brother who is smiling.

"cmon, don't leave now." benny frowns.
