"Hey! Are you listening?" He shouted, "You've got to turn it in!" He aggressively snapped in front of my face which makes me flinch and jump out of my seat. "Did you even hear anything I said?" he asked. Laurence has been bugging me about a field trip form I have not turned in; I would have it turned in if my parents signed it. It is always the same thing "Oh, Okay. We will turn it in soon." or "Of course, We'll have it done." It is never done though. The bus moves up and down causing me and Laurence to fall against the seats in front of us. "What if I have to get a new partner for this trip? I cannot go without someone! You need to get it signed! I could be paired with Carlos and his gang!" He dramatically pauses as he widens his eyes, "I could die!" He shouts out. I roll my eyes and stared back at him "Don't you think you are being slightly dramatic?" I asked, "the form is only due this Friday, I could get it done beforehand." Laurence gave me a weird glare; his face was filled with doubt. "Don't give me that look" I snapped, Laurence let out a heavy, healthy, and well-humored laugh. "I'll get it signed, I promise," I said. "Today is Wednesday, get it signed before then," He said, "or else I could be stuck with Lonna and nasty girl posse, or big bug-eyed Peter. I get all sorts of heebie-jeebies when he stares at me, it reminds me a lot of-" I completely tune out Laurence, as the bus stops and my stop. I get quickly get up, so Laurence's spiraling does not drive me crazy. I love the dude, but he needs to find some sort of chill. I hear him yelling in the background not to forget my field trip form. I looked behind and gave him a thumbs up.
I got off the stop and to the hot and humid weather, it was near fall, yet it was so hot. I felt my sweat starting to form near my forehead. I quickly walk down the sidewalk, holding to the shoulder straps of my backpack looking forward to the cold AC in my house. I reach the entrance of my house and slowly open my door. I walk inside the house, only for the house to be just as hot as outside. "Hello!" I yelled out, there was no response. "Mom! Dad! I'm home." Again, the house was silent. I slowly walk over into the kitchen, the humid air affecting my movement. Dragging my feet into the kitchen, so I can place my field trip form on the counter with a bright neon pink sticky note that says "PLEASE SIGN IMMEDIATELY" As I place my form down, I come across a tapped note of the edge of the sink counter. I picked up the note that was left on the sink, "Sorry! We went out of town for a business presentation, will be arriving home late. Left you a 20! Use it to treat yourself." Notes always feel personal, even though she could have left me a text. Honestly, the notes start losing their meaning if they are used constantly. This was not the first time they traveled across town at random times and left me alone and I highly doubt it would be the last. I head off to do my normal chores around the house such as taking care of my mother's flowers and plants, cleaning leftover dishes, etc.
I sigh and fall onto the down couch, wiping my forehead that was filled with sweat. Chores are normally easy, but the way that house slowly got hotter and hotter. It began to get more difficult, in such heat gardening my mother's plants were hard too. I stared down at the thermostat, I could hear my dad barking at me to not even be thinking about touching it. So, I decided to chill out for a bit and order myself a medium pizza and the coldest root beer they could find. I had to keep the minimum to 2 toppings or else it would be over 20 dollars. Of course, since pizza is expensive, I had to use a couple of bucks from my wallet to fully pay for it, the day was slowly turning into a low brilliant of colors of red and orange with a red smoky mist. I had to go into my backyard for a better look at the dim golden and amber sky. The temperature dropped a bit, so it was not a complete nuisance to be outside. Something about staring at the sky calmed me, like a little timeout or pause from life. Of course, my life was not perfect, but staring at the red, rosy sky made all my meddling thoughts go to ease. That was shortly interrupted when my phone softly chimed in my pocket, rumbling, and vibrating inside, as I clumsily fumbled it out. I picked it up without looking at how it was and let out a quick "Hey." "Dude. Ian. Have you seen the news yet?" I could tell that it was Laurence, I was not too surprised since he was the only close friend I have, but the way Laurence said that. He sounded serious, "Not really? I was planning to turn on the T.V while I wait for my pizza. Is something wr-." "Get on Channel 9. Now" he said in a stern and heavy voice. I barely hear him like this, which means it was important. I quickly moved out of the backyard and started making my way towards the living room. I quickly sit down and grasp onto the remote. Switching the channels until I finally land on Channel 9, and just like that. Her body was on the T.V screen. "Hello, Janet! It seems like the Police Nationale have pronounced her dead. She was caught in an alleyway, red bloody dice surround her body, and it seems like others say that she was somehow electrocuted, we are not sure if that was the cause of this death, because she does seem to have been beaten up badly. Police are still documenting the crime scene, but it seems like the famous social media star, Lilly "Sunny" Riverbanks, is dead-
