Ryker

I scurry through the dark streets, keeping far away from the lights on the sidewalks. I cannot be seen. I barely just escaped some animal control guys a few days ago, and although I'm getting deeper into this particular city, I rather not have them hot on my tail.

The road underneath my paws is rough, but it beats being in the forrest.

I'm an omega...and our hormones are strong as hell. Strong enough to attract any animal, shifter or not. Any male critter that has passed me have tried to have their way with me. And nearly any critter dislikes human cities. Even shifters stay clear of the cities they claim to be a part of, preferring to live in the country nearby.

And so, here I am.

Humans; however, are a completely different matter...and it's harder to find food. I haven't eaten in the past two weeks, and the truth of that is revealed as my stomach hideously growls.

Thank goodness tomorrow is garbage day. Although so far, every trashcan I have passed is occupied by raccoons. They glare at me as I pass by, daring me to take their food.

Yeah...no. I don't have the strength to fight anything off, much less an aggressive creature much like a raccoon.

My more human side balks at the idea of eating trash, but I'll do anything at this point. Besides, I haven't been all too "human" since I was cast out by my so called pack.

I don't really know how long ago that was. I don't know what city I'm in. I don't know my age, or remember the looks of my own human body. I may have never known.

All I know is that I'm hungry, and I need food.

I finally find a trash that is empty of raccoons and dig in, grateful for this small mercy.

I eat what I can, and gradually, my small stomach fills up. Food is the key to survival, after all.

With the small amount of food in my stomach, I can look forward to another day of being alive.
