Mikey
"Let me go! Mikey!" Maxon shouts from under me as he stares at his collapsed mate. I nod to Payne and he rushes over to the crumpled form, examining him.
"Damn it, guys! That's my damn mate!!!! Let me go!!!" Maxon continues, struggling under us. Payne looks up to me and smiles. "He's still breathing." I nod and get off of my cousin, the others following suit.
He rushes towards his mate, frantically picking him up and turning around. "We need the vans here now!" He barks at us, his eyes not leaving his mate.
"They're already here." Alpha Clark gently murmurs as he walks up, glancing to our right, where a few vans are waiting, built to drive in heavy environments such as this forest.
Maxon nods, and stands, picking up his mate. Holding the boy bridal style, Maxon walks over to a van, and we follow suit in silence.
"We need to get him to your pack doctors, Alpha Clark." Maxon mutters as a few of his warriors helps lift the boy into the van, and on a leather bench.
"We will. We'll go as fast as we can. Luckily, this forest runs along a road not too far back... it is how these vans made it here effortlessly. The road is only 30 minutes away. Once we get to it, we will be able to speed back to pack land. Once there, my doctors can take care of him until we figure out how to transport him safely back to your pack in his state." Clark informs us all as we get in the vans.
I am the last to settle in Maxon's van, sliding the door closed and sitting right besides him. I watch as he places his mate's head on his lap, gently stroking his long tangled hair.
The dirty boy breathes heavily, the wounds ugly and streaming blood.
"Here." I mutter, handing him a blanket one of his warriors handed me from the back.
"Try to staunch the flow of that blood as much as possible." I explain, and my cousin nods, doing exactly what I said.
"Please step on it. I won't lose him again." Maxon tells Clark, who is in the driver's seat. The man nods and takes the lead of the four large vans, driving expertly in the undergrowth.
"I won't lose him again." Maxon repeats as he continues to fuss over his mate.
Ryker
I wince at the pain that engulfs me as soon as I become aware. I keep my eyes closed, and my body still. I have learned what to do when I fall asleep in a place I wasn't meant to or chose to fall asleep in.
Because chances are, when I wake up, I will find myself in some sort of danger.
"I won't lose him again." A gruff, honey sweet, familiar voice says from right above me. My heart constricts, but I cannot say why.
