I take the long way to work, the river walk. The sun is almost completely gone, and since its a Monday not a lot of people are out. The river is quiet only a few boats docked. It's not completly silent, the sounds of traffic in the distance. I miss this, the long walks in the dark. Ben and I used to wonder the streets all the time..

The sign on the door read closed. Sighing I knock on the door waiting for Sam to unlock it. She rushes out in a dress and heals.
"Sorry Carter, I was in the back." She says opening the door.
"It's fine." I nodded smiling.
"You and Calum have the night shift." She says walking towards the back door.
"Okay, is he here?" I asked looking around.
"Yea, he's in the back getting something." She smiled.
" I have to go, bye." Sam smiles walking out the back door. As soon as the door shuts Calum walks out rubbing his eyes.
"Hey C." He says tiredly as he walks towards me.
"Hey Calum, you tired?" I giggled as he leaned his head against my shoulder.
"Yessss." He whined standing up straight.
"Me to, you don't even know." I laughed at the thought of actually telling him.
"What do I not know?" He asked quizzing me.
"Nothing." I said walking towards a rack of clothes.
"So, I was thinking why don't we just close the shop now and go get something to eat?" He asked looking over at me.
"Calum, we haven't been here for an hour." I said in shock.
"Yeah, but Sam doesn't know that." He smirked beginning to lock up the place.
"Fine, but we are not doing this ever again. I need this job." I said warningly.
"Chill girl." He said laughing. I grabbed my bag as we both walked out of the shop locking the door.
"Where do you want to eat?" I asked looking up and down street.
"Well, I am meeting up with a friend so we can just go there." He shrugged grabbing my arm and pulling me down the street.
It took us a few minutes to get to the place. Jimmy's Kitchen, Calum says he always comes here with his friends. Guess I'm not one of his friends, because he's never taken me. I said sarcastically in my head.
We stopped at a table in the corner, but it wasn't empty. A boy with ash brown shiny hair smiled up at me. His hazel eyes seemed to sparkle. " C, this is Ashton." Calum said nudging my shoulder with his.
"Oh, h-hey I'm Carter." I said like a complete idiot. I couldn't help it,he was so mouth watering.
Calum sat down in the booth, me sliding in next to him.
"I already ordered you both a drink." Ashton smiled looking at both of us.
"Calum your meeting up with us this weekend right?" Ashton asked his smile fading a little.
"Oh, uh..yeah." He said surprised.
"Great." He said his smile lighting up his face again. He turned his head looking at me.
"So Carter you've lived here your whole life or did you move here?" He asked interested.
"Born and raised here." I smiled looking over at him. A lady setting a dink in front of all of us.
"Thanks." We all say at the same time.
Looking down at the drink I smile when I see its root beer.
"I didn't know if you drink or not..." Ashton said looking between me and Calum.
"No, I don't." I said shaking my head. It was silent for a moment before I noticed Ashton wasn't drinking, or eating. Calum and I decided on both sharing gooey fries. It was awkward eating in front of him. This was the first time Calum and I have actually ever done anything outside of work.
Calum and Ashton talked about bands that I have never heard of. So I was silent most of the time watching as they both talked. Looking at my phone to see it was already almost eleven. Looking outside the window that I sat by I nearly screamed, Luke sat on the curb on the other side of the road. He was staring at me.
