The Fall Of Kings (Part 17)

Kai, Ryder, and Trevor stuck through the halls as they approached the thrown room. They stopped at the thrown doors and stood there. Ryder grabbed Kai's hand tightly. Trevor held onto his satchel that had been on his the whole time, holding his dagger and his books. Kai felt the piercing pain of Ryder's nails. He was nervously. Kai closed his eyes and took a breathe in.
"Whatever happens after our next decision, will be the right decision. If we go down, I'll be happy that it's you two." Kai said quietly. Ryder trembled with tears readying themselves to break through his eyelids. Trevor chuckled nervously then reached his hand out to push on the doors. When he did, the doors swung open quickly to reveal an unpleasant moment for all three of them.
You could say that they are just unlucky but I will say that this was all planned out.
They dropped in during a large schedule meeting. Which meant that every trainee guard and most of the main guards were all in the same exact room as the king and queen. Kai's heart dropped, seeing so many guards, he froze in fright. Ryder's eyes were widened along side Trevor. King and Queen Dawn stared at the three. Ryder gripped Kai's hand tighter, which made it so he could feel Kai shaking. Trevor glared at the hundreds of guards and his parents.
"Mother! Father! Surprise!" Trevor yelled out. King Dawn glared at Trevor then to Ryder and Kai.
    Lin Jane, who was the king and queen's personal maid saw Trevor, Ryder, and Kai standing there. Her heart melted when she saw her son. Her son that she hasn't seen for four years now. She gasped for air then ran through the guards quickly. The guards moved out of the way for her to run. She ran directly into Kai's arms. Kai's eyes widened even more when he saw his mother.
"Kai!" Lin Jane screamed before hugging him tightly.
"Mommy.-" Kai said without controlling his words. He hugged her back quickly and felt tears roll down his face. Ryder's heart was smiling at the beautiful reunion but was still on edge and scared to death at where they were at, at the very moment.

"Guards." King Dawn yelled out strictly. The guards turned to King Dawn all at once. King Dawn pointed at Kai and Lin.
"Arrest them and take them to the dungeon." King Dawn said strictly. Queen Dawn put her left hand on her hip and grunted.
"And bring my son and that pesky wimp of a boy to us." Queen Dawn said, referring to Ryder and Trevor. The guards turned to the four of them and seized them.
    An hour later; Kai and Lin Jane were being dragged to the dungeon by two guards and followed by a dozen more.
   For an hour, they were all able to run for as long as they could until Lin Jane ran out of breathe. Kai had stopped to wait for her but Ryder refused to let Kai go. The guards caught up and grabbed the three of them. Trevor had kept running until he was pulled into a room quickly. The room was the guards corridor. That's when he saw himself surrounded by at least two dozen guards. Trevor froze with fright. That was until the guard that had stood up for Lin Jane, stepped forward.
"You must be King Trevor." The guard said with a big smile. Trevor's thumping heart softened with relief. A smile grew onto his face.
"I am." Trevor said. The guards cleared a way to a back door.
"Your thrown is waiting. And so are Lin Jane and her son." The guard said. Trevor looked at the guard confusedly then walked towards the back door. He opened it, then smiled.

     Minutes earlier, the guards locked Lin Jane and Kai into a cell. They used a key to lock it then walked away, handing the keys to one of the dozen guards that had been following them. They stood next to the cell and watched the other two guards leave. When they left, the guards all turned towards the cell and stared at Kai and Lin Jane. Lin Jane was smiling and walked towards the cell.
"You gonna stand there boys? Or are you gonna let us out to go save this kingdom?" Lin Jane said. Kai's scared face turned into a confused face. The guards chuckled and opened the cell door. They moved out of the way for Lin and Kai to get out. Lin started her way out of the cell. Kai followed her out. One of the guards pointed to a different door.
"Go through that door and wait a little." The guard said. Lin Jane tilted her head with a nod and walked the direction that the guards told them too. Kai quickly followed Lin Jane through the door. They stood in a small room with two different doors. They waited there til they saw one of the two doors open. They watched Trevor walk through the door with a smile.
     "So." Trevor said. This got Lin and Kai's attention.
"Ready to go claim my thrown?" Trevor asked with pure confidence. Kai and Lin smiled and shook their heads agreeing. Trevor, Kai, and Lin Jane turned to the last of the two doors.
"Ryder is in there. Probably not gonna be happy though." Trevor said. Kai turned to Trevor.
"What do you mean?" Kai asked nervously. Lin Jane took her apron off and threw it on the ground.
"Not good." Lin Jane said. Kai turned back towards the door slowly.
"This time, we won't run." Trevor said. Lin Jane nodded her head.
"Indeed, we won't." Lin Jane said. All three of them stepped forward and pushed open the door.
