Now, I had no idea how exactly I was going to take Harry down a few notches, I just knew that I was the one who had to do it.
He would never let anyone else even try to do anything that would annoy or embarrass him. If it was someone he hated, though... Someone he would expect to fight him, to give him a taste of his own medicine. Well, then he would let it happen. Because if he does, it just gives him more of a reason to hate me, more of a reason to keep torturing me.
Except when I'm through with him, hopefully he'll be beaten down enough that he'll finally concede.
Or at least go back to just vague threats and mostly harmless actions.
I walk over to the blackjack table that Niall and Willow are at, wiping at my face to make sure there's no streaks left from my tears.
"Hey Spence," Willow lights up when she sees me, "Niall is teaching me how to play blackjack. It's actually super fun!"
"She's a natural already," Niall says with a smile.
"And I'm not supposed to really say anything, but..." she leans in and speaks quietly, "He's teaching me how to count the cards."
"Shhh! Not too loud." Niall says, looking around anxiously and eyeing the dealer to see if he heard.
"Just be careful, you don't want a repeat of last time." I warn, mostly for Willow's sake.
"Oh come on, that was mostly Harry and Louis!" Niall defends.
"Uh huh, sureeee," I reply.
"Want to join?" He asks me.
"Um actually-" I begin to decline, but then I see Harry coming over out of the corner of my eye and have the urge to say yes. "I would love to." I answer.
I buy $1,000 worth of chips to start, though I doubt I'll end up betting that much.
The dealer sets two cards in front of me, a 2 and a 7, though I'm not really paying that much attention to the game.
Harry finally gets over to us, and he quietly gets dealt in next to me. Both of us sit and look at our cards, neither speaking or even stealing so much as a glance.
Finally, he leans over to me and speaks.
"Look, the only reason I was on the balcony was-"
"I don't want to hear it." I cut him off.
"You-"
"I've already forgotten all about it, okay?" I say, still looking at my cards and playing the game.
"Y-you have?" He asks, genuinely surprised for once.
I'm actually still super pissed at him, but he doesn't need to know that.
"Yep, so just drop it." I say.
"Alright then..."
We all win the round. I only bet $15, but I still earned some money.
"Alright, I'm going a hundred this time," Niall says, "I'm just warming up."
"I'll do a hundred as well," Harry says, then looks at me, almost like he's daring me to match his and Niall's bet.
"I'll go with $50." I say, pushing my chips forward. I'm not going to bet my life savings quite yet. I'm not like Harry and Niall, I don't casually carry $500 or more on me at all times.
"Playing it safe, sunshine?" Harry asks.
"I think she's being smart, actually," Willow tells him, and bets $50 as well.
