"Where are we going?" I ask Darson. It's the first time today I see him driving. He drove us to the hospital earlier and gave Dean the day off. The man needs the break.I've notice that Darson isn't going in the direction of the hotel. He's driving further and further away from there. I'm nervous. Is he going to get rid of me or something?
"You'll see." My lips flatten into a thin line as I watch the buildings go by. Five minutes later we pull up to a building. He gets out of the car and I follow with curiosity cloaking my brain.
When we enter the building, the first thing I see is a reception table and a whole lot of posters with different types of fishes and fun facts. "Are we going fishing?" It's the first thing that comes to mind. People like Darson thinks fishing is fun.
"It's an aquarium, genius." He retorts and my mouth forms an 'O'. "And no you don't get to eat the fish." Yeah yeah. We proceed to the receptionist. "So don't go tossing a fishing line in the tank." I give him a side eye as we stop at the desk. He pays for us both then we get on our way.
Gosh, this place is amazing. Hundreds of fishes swim at the sides of us and above us. They're everywhere. The diversity excites me as they are all simply beautiful and unique. The other people milling around seem just as excited. Well, except Darson. His eyes are mostly on me and there's a hint of a smile there if I'm not mistaken.
I may be annoying him after a while. I'm practically bouncing on my feet and pointing at fishes I thought looked cool. I may have attracted a few stares but Darson keeps giving me small smiles and patting my head to calm me down. I must say he's been patient with me. Usually, he'll complain about me embarrassing him.
"Take me a picture." Before I can hand him my phone, he's already pulling out his phone. He positions his phone in front him and I throw up the peace sign.
"So 2015." He mutters and I glare. The flash goes off and I scold him for not waiting for me to get ready.
"Darson-" Flash. "You-" Flash. I fold my hands on my chest out of frustration.
"Fine." I smile at the camera and the flash goes off once again. "Pretty."
"Thanks."
"I'm talking about the fishes." The way he pisses me off. I grumble and he points a fish. "You're like that fish." I beam at him.
"Why? Because it's pretty?" The fish is beautifully coloured but it barely stays in one place for me to fully admire it. It keeps darting around.
"It has no sense of direction."
I hit him on the arm multiple times. "Must you ruin every moment." Darson grins at my abuse.
We are now in a room full of small aquariums. They are all displaying one fish. Apparently, they're some of the most intriguing fishes out there. My eyes are drawn to the Invasive Lionfish. For some reason, it catches my attention. I stand in front of its aquarium, admiring its beauty. "So beautiful."
"And deadly." It is? I frown at the fish in curiosity. Looks like I have some homework to do. "It reminds me of myself."
"How so?"
"It is a threat to many aquatic organisms and it doesn't have a natural predator." I nod in understanding. "It reminds me of me. I was thrown into an unfamiliar place where I didn't have a choice but to make a home." He seems deep in thought. "I'm said to be a threat in the business world when really I'm just living my life and trying to survive." He turns to me. "Many people want to get rid of me but they don't know how and is still plotting ways to throw me off my pedestal." He looks sad about it.
