sunki chapter <3
It was the end of October. Time had passed, Sunoo and Ayano still trying to hold on. Ayano told Sunghoon that she wanted a little more time for Sunoo and her before anything happens. He did give it and the three of them spent the time together. Ayano had been working part time at a flower shop to cover up her suspicious acts. Meanwhile, Sunoo and Ni-Ki had something else planned.
"Hey birthday boy." Sunoo walks up to Ni-Ki with the flowers in his hand. He'd gotten him chrysanthemums, having read that they're the November flowers. "They're so pretty, thank you!" Ni-Ki smiles widely, taking the bouquet from him and taking a deep breath of their scent. He grabs a vase, clipping the stems and placing them in the water before positioning them on the counter, eyeing them proudly when he's done.
"So are you ready to go?" Ni-Ki asks."Where are we going?" Sunoo responds, a playful glint in his eyes."I'm taking you to lunch." "But I'm not prepared for that... I feel underdressed." Ni-Ki laughs, looking Sunoo up and down. "You look perfect." Ni-Ki wraps his arms around his waist, pulling him against him. "You're so beautiful, just the way you are."
Sunoo smiles, pink dusting his cheeks. Ni-Ki feels him rustling around in his pocket, confused until he pulls out his phone, clicking on his camera. When he holds it up to take a picture of them, Ni-Ki kisses his cheek, his lips meeting smooth skin, and he feels Sunoo smile wider.
"Okay, now I'm ready to go." Sunoo turns his head, pressing a light kiss to his lips, before Ni-Ki pulls away and they head out the door together. The walk to where Ni-Ki was taking him, the restaurant not far away, although they don't normally eat there due to the more expensive nature of it. When they walk in, Ni-Ki coos over Sunoo as he takes in their surroundings with wide eyes. Ni-Ki had made a reservation, and they're seated soon after.
"Oh my god, Ni-Ki this place is insane!" Sunoo says as he examines the menu. "This is way too expensive!" Ni-Ki shook his head. "Nope, definitely not. It's your birthday, get whatever you want." Ni-Ki encourages with a smile. Sunoo nods bashfully and looks back at the menu. "You help me order pleasee, I have never been to places like these before." Sunoo whine as Ni-Ki laughed, taking a seat closer to the boy.
As they order and eat their food, Ni-Ki feels relaxed, comfortable with Sunoo while they talk and laugh. He can't stop himself from being distracted by how lovely Sunoo looks in the gentle lighting. However, towards the end of their meal he feels tension creep back in, a sudden lull in the conversation offering him an opportunity.
"Hey ddeonu, I have something to ask you." He's proud that he keeps his voice even. "Okay, what's up?" Sunoo looks up at him from his nearly empty plate. Ni-Ki takes a deep breath. "I've had the most amazing couple weeks with you. You make me so incredibly happy, and I want to ask if you'll be my husband." He says it in one breath, the words nearly tumbling over each other through his nerves.
Sunoo hesitated, wanting to think more about this. But he remembers Ayano's words from a conversation they had recently.
'Make it last, be happy Sunoo.'
He smiled brightly before replying. "Ni-Ki, I've wanted to be yours since the moment I saw you." Sunoo's eyes tender, and Ni-Ki lets out a relieved laugh, smiling widely. "Oh, here." Ni-Ki pulls out Sunoo's small gift, setting it on the table in front of him. It's a small box, wrapped with a bow on top. "Aw, you didn't have to get me anything baby." Sunoo says as he grabs the small box.
Ni-Ki watches in anticipation as Sunoo carefully unwraps the gift to reveal a dark jewelry box. When he lifts the top he brings his hands up to cover his mouth. Placed in the box is a ring, a silver butterfly placed on top of it. "Ki, it's gorgeous!" Sunoo gasps. "You really like it?"
"I love it." Sunoo picks up the accessory, sliding it onto his pointer finger, and Ni-Ki was relieved to see that it's not too big or too small for him. Sunoo was looking at it adoringly, and Ni-Ki was taken aback by his boyfriend- his future husband. He looks perfect; delighted and shining.
"I love you."
Sunoo grabs Ni-Ki's hand on the table, attempting to calm him. "I love you too." He says it quietly, but without any doubt. Ni-Ki beams at him, feeling euphoric, able to breathe normally again after being terrified that he would be rejected. They finish their food, and Ni-Ki pays the bill, shushing a still protesting Sunoo.
They watched netflix for the rest of the day and discussed about moving in together. It was Sunoo's best day ever. 21 is a young age to get married but not for Sunoo. His fate... was already decided. "I love you." Ni-Ki breathes. "I love you too." Sunoo smiles.
