A few days after Luke got out of the hospital, Jamie was sitting at her dinner table when her phone buzzed. She picked it up and read the text.

Luke: do you still want to go on a date with me?
At first, Jamie wanted to respond with "Of course I do!", but something stopped her from touching her fingers to the screen. Did she really want to?
Of course you do! Part of her screamed. You've been wanted to date Luke since you first set eyes on him!
But, the other half argued. What about Calum?
Yeah, what about Calum? Half number one said scathingly. You don't like him. He's just a friend. Actually, no, he's not a friend. He hates you, remember?
As far as Jamie could tell, half of her was rooting for Calum and half of her wanted Luke. She remembered what Michael had told her; I hope you make the right choice.
She thought she knew what the choice was now, but she wasn't sure what the right choice was. She wished she had Michaels number so he could ask him what he thought the right choice was. If he had advised her to make it, he must know what it was, right?
She decided to text Lindsey and ask for Ashton's number so she could ask him for Michaels number. It was a complicated process, but she had to talk to Michael.
Jamie texted Lindsey.

Jamie: Hi, can you give me Ashton's number?
Jamie hoped Lindsey would just give her the number without asking any questions, but she knew Lindsey, so she doubted it very much.
Lindsey: why?
Just as Jamie had predicted, Lindsey wanted an explanation.
Jamie: Because I want to ask him for Michaels number.

Lindsey: I have Michaels number.
Jamie wanted to ask Lindsey why she had Michaels number, but she figured that was a bit off topic.
Jamie: Okay...can I have it?

Lindsey: Yes, but first tell me why. There's not something going on between you and Michael now, is there?

Jamie: No, it's nothing like that. I just want to ask him about something he told me.

Lindsey: okay.
Lindsey gave Jamie Michael's number, but Jamie had another question.
Jamie: Are you mad at me for lying about Calum?

Lindsey: A little. I just don't understand why you couldn't have told me the truth in the first place.

Jamie: I'm sorry, but Calum made me promise I wouldn't tell you.

Lindsey: Why?

Jamie: Because I didn't want him to tell Michael or Ashton because I was worried they would tell Luke.

Lindsey: Oh.

Jamie: Do you forgive me?

Lindsey: I still don't get it. You could have either just told me and lied to Calum or lied to me, and rather than lie to Calum, who you had known for a day, you decided to lie to your best friend.

Jamie: I'm so sorry, I never thought of it like that. Please forgive me?
Lindsey didn't reply. Jamie waited and waited, but after fifteen minutes she gave up. Lindsey was mad at her, and she had been from the moment Jamie had told her the truth. Jamie was had been too busy worrying about herself and her problems to notice that her best friend was upset and it was Jamie's fault. She decided it was up to Lindsey now. If Lindsey still wanted to be her friend, she would make sure Jamie knew. If not, Jamie would finally be getting what she deserved.

Jamie called Michael, and he picked up on the first ring.
"Hello?"
"Hi, Michael, it's Jamie." Jamie said.
"Oh, hi Jamie," Michael replied. "What's up?"
"I wanted to ask you want you meant the other day when you said, 'I hope you make the right choice.' "
Michael paused for a moment, and the only thing assuring Jamie that he hadn't hung up was the sound of his soft breathing on the other end.
"You really want to know?" He finally asked. It sounded almost like he was laughing a little.
"Yes." Jamie was sure.
"I know you're in love with Calum."
Jamie's breath hitched in her throat. It seemed so strange to hear the words 'love' and 'Calum' in the same sentence.
"W-what-"
"And I know you're not in love with Luke, and he isn't in love with you," Michael continued, interrupting Jamie's feeble attempt to defend herself. "So what I meant when I said I hope you make the right choice, was I hope you choose the guy who you know will make you happy instead of the guy you think should make you happy."
Jamie didn't say anything. Michael had basically just voiced exactly what had been going on in her head for the past few weeks, but as a recommendation.
"How can you be so sure?" Jamie said after what seemed like hours of silence.
"I can just tell," Michael said. "I'm good at these kind of things."
"So..." Jamie swallowed. "You think I should forget about Luke and...date Calum?"
"I'm saying you should do what you're one hundred percent sure will make you happy. Think about being with Luke, and then being with Calum. Which one gives you that happy feeling? All that matters is you being happy."
Jamie took in a deep breath.
"I..."
"Just think about it, okay?" Michael said comfortingly. "And I know you'll be able to make the right choice."

I know this is a super short chapter (I'm really glad I didn't promise), but I really wanted to update today and I couldn't think of anything else to add to this chapter so...here it is. So how about that, huh? Michael is suddenly a love expert. Very surprising, I must say. No, I'm kidding. No, I totally was not kidding.
Anyway, would you like another joke? Unfortunately I didn't make this one up:
What colour shoes do bears wear?

They don't wear shoes. The prefer to go bear footed.
Well, it makes sense.
Anyway, I'll stop bugging you.
