Chapter 7: Toxic

You'd kept the same outfit you had on for the day as you made your way to the lounge with Fernanda. Both of you needed a drink after all that happened this morning, and you needed some liquid courage, and as was Eren's preference, it was open bar tonight. You guys walked in, straight past the restaurant feature and went up the stairs, where a few people gathered. Some were inside getting drinks but the majority was outside, so you and Fernanda sat at the bar. You smiled to the bartender before ordering whiskey on the rocks. Fernanda watched as you moved the small straw aside and downed at least half of the glass, as you looked back to her and her cute cocktail.

"Just a bit of liquid courage to get me started, how cute is that drink!", you mused, as Fernanda nodded.

"It's cute and strong. This place is actually really freaking nice.', Fernanda replied, looking around towards the outside where people danced and started to fill in. "Well kept, super clean, but still down to Earth."

"That's the Eldian's Lounge for ya!", you agreed, although you were a bit distracted by your surroundings. Asking the bartender for another drink,he handed it immediately to you as you walked fast, and you wondered if the stress wore itself across your face. This made you down the second drink too.

You knew that Eren was somewhere around and he'd be looking for you soon, but where was he? And was Armin here? You didn't know any of their whereabouts, the only people you were able to put a face to was Annie, who was outside, and Kelis, who was by the bathroom.

Kelis was here?

"One second.", you said to Fernanda, finishing your drink before slowly getting up and walking over to her. Kelis was alone, but you didn't tell her about Eren's get together, you ended up inviting Fernanda instead. Despite the last phone call, you knew that Kelis was often so dramatic and that she probably wasn't even upset with you, so you shook off the feeling and walked up to her as she lingered, and greeted her with a simple 'hello' to which she smiled without a curve.

"I didn't know you'd be here.", you greeted.

"I wish I could say the same for you, but everyone makes sure you're included in everything.", she spoke, her tone a bit catty.

"Well this is Eren's little event, so I guess I'm just destined to be here, no matter what."

"Yes, of course.", Kelis replied. "Nice to see ya." she nodded, turning on her heel to walk away from you.

"Kelis, what gives?", you'd finally asked her, putting your hand out to reach for her arm, grabbing it. You realized her energy from the phone was not just a fleeting moment of dramatics. When you asked her the question, she actually seemed angry with you. "It just seems like you're shutting me out."

"Well isn't that ironic! I could've sworn that's what you've been doing to me since you broke up with your ex.", she scoffed, pulling her arm back away from you.

"I know we haven't hung out, just the two of us, but it's not like I haven't seen you, and I even told you on the phone that I missed you!"

"You don't miss me, Y/n. You miss dumping your shit on me and calling it a girls night."

"That is not fair, Kelis!", you defended.
