It'd been about two days since Kyland's murder and at the least, it allowed for some reconciliation between you and Eren. This wasn't without the fair share of arguments that had ensued about even meeting with him in the first place, and telling him everything. You tried to bring Armin into it, because why was he spying on you, or even reporting back to Eren for that matter. There was no logic; Eren was Armin's best friend, and they'd look out for each other. Which in turn, meant looking out for you.
Even at that time of night, Sasha and Connie met up with Armin that night and after he briefed them, they took care of the body. Sasha was a bit annoyed that she'd been interrupted from her steak dinner, but human flesh was meat that needed to be dealt with, quickly. They wondered about who you were, especially since they were bagging up and eventually burning a body for you, because Armin wouldn't call it in for just anyone. Armin convinced them all of your friendship and explained to them the relationship with Eren. But they still didn't see the appeal. It didn't matter, they'd meet with you soon enough.
Eren helped you curate your alibi of where you were that night, and Armin had some special favors to call in when it came to security cameras. Thankfully, there wasn't much to hide because you'd avoided all major cameras, especially since the library was abandoned. So for now, you were at ease with worrying about your capture. As the week progressed, you'd starting experiencing more nightmares, visions, and even wondered if you saw him in the dark of your room. Even sleeping besides Eren, it felt as if Kyland was behind him, waiting.
It had been 4 days since you'd watched him stop breathing when an unknown number called. You put your phone up to your ear, but you didn't say anything. A small hello rang out on the other side. A familiar one too.
"Who is this?"
"Thank goodness, this phone worked.", the voice said with relief washing over it. "This is Katie, Kyland's mom. Is this still your number, y/n?"
"Katie...yes, this is still my number.", you responded back cooly, though you felt your heart drop to your stomach, but you couldn't give her any indicator of that. This phone call was bound to happen. "Is everything alright?"
"Yes, everything is fine, hopefully. We just- we can't find Kyland."
"With all due respect Katie...I haven't been with your son in almost a year."
"I know, but you're the only one who knows how he is...maybe he's on a bender, or just going MIA we don't know but we need your help..."
"I can't help you Katie. Where were you when Kyland cheated on me, beat me, almost killed me? I don't owe you a damn thing."
"Oh, he was just upset that you lied about being pregnant..."
"In order to preserve my life! He would've killed me- you knew about it, all about it, and you just watched and made excuses. I don't know where Kyland is, and frankly, I don't give a damn. I'm thriving without him, and I never want to revisit that again. If anyone knows where he should be, it should be you. Didn't you drive him to his last drug pickup?"
Eren put his hand on your shoulder, mouthing the words, 'Enough'. You took a deep breath before going back to the phone. Katie was quiet for a moment, finally speaking up as you were about to hang up. "Well, please let me know if that changes, y/n...if you have any idea where he is..."
