The General

One

(Before we start, I would like everyone to know that even though I did some research, I don't have any real knowledge about the Korean monarchy in any era. I am just a simple girl (dingbat) and there will be tons of mistakes. Please try not to focus on the historical inaccuracies and enjoy the story. The request from @D_dhanu was for a historical era story. I really tried but I just couldn't write a believable story. I just don't know much about it and didn't want to offend anyone. I am sorry... So as many of you know, I get alot of my ideas from TV shows & movies. And I decided to write one, very loosely based on a famous Korean drama. I hope y'all enjoy reading.💜)

Goryeo Dynasty 1313 A.D. : The Royal Palace

The country has had several years of civil unrest and the king's army is constantly waging a war with other countries that keep trying to overthrow the kingdom.

Leading the king's army is his most trusted and highly decorated General Kim Taehyung. He has won many battles on behalf of the king Jeon Jungkook. And he is very beloved by the people of the kingdom.

The king has always trusted the general and they have a close bond. And on top of that, they are family since the king is married to the generals younger brother Jimin and they are very much in love.

The King is currently sitting at his throne, surrounded by his usual advisors and of course his most trusted eunuch Park Joong-heon. He has heard by messenger that the General is now on his way after defeating his latest foes.

But the king is seething after just having been told of a betrayal made against the king as told to him by his trusted eunuch Joong-heon.

He has been filling his head with lies, painting the General as someone who loves the admiration he gets from the people. That with every victory on the field, the more he mesmerizes the people and mocks the royal court. And at first chance he will try to usurp the throne when he wants even more of what the king has.

The eunuch comes from a long line of eunuchs that have been advisors to the royal family. But the current one, who is busy feeding the king erroneous information is unlike his predecessors who have always been loyal to the crown. He is very greedy and loves the power that comes with being the king's most trusted advisor.

He is very cruel and heartless to everyone around him. Except of course the king. He knows as long as he stays on his good side he will keep his position.

But lately he has been very jealous of all the love and affection that the General receives from the people. And fears that if he continues to grow in popularity, he will soon start to come between him and the king.

So he started working on a plot to get rid of the General once and for all.

The General is riding his horse followed by his loyal troops. Once he enters the kingdom, he is immediately swarmed by the mobs of people who want to thank him for what he's done. He has once again saved them from ruthless warriors hell bent on taking their land.

Though he is exhausted and suffering from several wounds, he is smiling at everyone who welcomes him home.

As he nears the royal gates, he and his troops are stopped by the royal guards.

"What are you doing idiot? Don't you know that the king is expecting the General after another victory?! Open the gates and let us enter!" Yells the generals trusted lieutenant Min Yoongi.

The guard ignores the lieutenant and yells out orders.

"Traitor General Kim Taehyung, lay down your weapons and surrender yourself by order of your king!"
