Jungkook's POV

I was frantic. My lip felt raw and sore as I chewed down on it relentlessly, pacing back and forth in front of the train I couldn't bring myself to get on; the train that would take me home, away from Y/N.

Around me, the heavy rain continued to fall, the sky overhead as dark and clouded as the battling forces of my emotions within.

Everything inside me was tugging me back towards her house, where she'd just begged me to leave her alone with her demon of a father.

"Ahh-" I let out a tormented growl, tipping my head back to scowl up at the evening sky, rainwater battering freely against my face.

I couldn't shake the last image I'd seen of her, eyes huge with worry, the slight shake to both her fingers and her voice as she'd pushed me away, pleading with me to leave.

I'd never seen anyone look so deeply terrified.

I had to go back, I decided a moment before the train pulled away from the station.

Turning quickly, I sprinted back in the direction I'd just came, my sodden clothes heavy and clinging to my body like a second skin but unable to slow my pace.

The few minutes it took me to reach her house felt like an endless amount of time. Finally though, I was standing right in front of Y/N's house, blinking rainwater out of my eyes as I stared up at it.

What now?

Digging into my pocket, I yanked out my phone, heart jumping into my throat as I saw that the wetness from my soaked jeans had left the screen covered in tiny droplets.
My movements jerky with panic, I wiped the screen against my hoodie before tapping into Y/N's contact, calling her and stuffing the phone up into my hood and against my ear.

I felt my front teeth digging into the chafed flesh of my lower lip as the dialling tone purred.

Finally, after seven long, agonising rings, she answered.

"Jungkookie?" Her voice was a tiny whisper, soft and tender.
At the sound of it, a sudden warmth washed through my entire body, my limbs loosening with relief and a sharp breath escaping my lips.

"Y/N . . . Baby . . . " I choked out, cupping my hand around my mouth and the speaker, drowning out the loud rain. "Are you okay?"

Again, I chewed down on my lip, hearing exactly how desperate my voice sounded.

I heard her take a breath before answering, sounding hesitant. "Y-Yeah. I am."

I squeezed my eyes shut, pain pricking into my heart as I listened to her tentative reply.

"Good . . . That's good." I nodded my head, keeping my eyes scrunched closed.

A few heartbeats of silence passed.

"'M sorry I pushed you away earlier, Koo." She said softly. I heard a muffled sniffle afterwards.

Wanting to soothe her quickly, I cooed into the phone, "Shh, don't apologise, my angel. Don't worry about it, okay?"

"O-Okay." She whispered, a little hitch to her voice followed by another tiny sniffle.

"Baby, are you crying?" I asked, pressing the phone closer to my ear, agony clawing at my chest at the sound of her upset. I stared at the outside of her house, my eyes roving over each of the windows as I wondered which one she was behind.

"N-No. I'm okay." She replied quietly. I could tell she was lying, another tiny snuffling sound reaching my ear, but I didn't want to push her and upset her further.
