When I got back, I ran to my room and locked the door. I grabbed my computer and clicked the video chat button. I hated to do it this way, but I knew I had to.

"Hey." Ella said with a smile.

"Hi." I mumbled.

"What's up?" She asked.

"We have to talk..." I trailed off.

"About what?" She asked.

"I think we should break up. I'm sorry." I blurted out.

She didn't speak. We sat in silence for a while and then she started to cry.

"Don't make this harder than it already is Ella." I said coldly.

"I don't even get a choice here?" She asked.

"No." I said.

I was being cold. I had to be. I couldn't let her know how bad this hurt. I had to act like I wanted this.

"I don't think we should continue our friendship either." I said.

"What?" She said.

"I don-"

"No, I heard you. I just don't understand." She cried.

"Well, I'll make it simple. This is goodbye, Ella." I said.

"No, this is more than goodbye Michael! I'm looking into your eyes right now and you aren't even there! This isn't you!" She cried.

Once again, we sat in silence. I watched as she cried, not knowing what to say. I knew that cutting ties with her would be the best thing to do.

"I can't believe that it's over." She sobbed.

And that's the last thing she said before she hung up.

"Me neither." I said as I began to cry.
