As much as Weilan wanted to go back to the capital for revenge, she knew the condition of her body all too well.

Her bones were fractured and even with Master Rong's treatment and special medicine, the fastest he would be able to help her recover would still take a year or two.

At first Weilan was frustrated but slowly, she came to terms with her body's condition. Since her body was currently weak, she would bid her time.

Rushing in head first was also not a solution. The Li Clan was one of the most powerful Clans in Great Song. She needed more power and strength, only then will she be able to start her search for her mother and find the answers she wanted.

Yanxi had made it a point to come to her room everyday and they both spent time together talking. Although it was mostly Yanxi who spoke and Weilan who nodded from time to time.

With Yanxi's bright personality and bubbly nature, even though Weilan was cold and aloof, she also gradually warmed up to Yanxi, finding her company to be very pleasant. Weilan wasn't one who loved talking but in her heart, she already saw Yanxi as her good friend.

She spent each day agonizingly lying in bed, only having Yanxi as company and sometimes Master Rong who would drop by to check in on her and also have dinner together. Master Rong would also find time in between his research and sit inside the room with them, sharing about his medicinal discoveries and theories or even playing a round of chess with her.

Even though the two girls were not as addicted to medical studies as him, they both sat there listening and allowing the old man to rant on and on. Weilan actually found that Master Rong's teaching was in fact something good, she had basic understanding of medical knowledge but hearing Master Rong, her interest in medicine was piqued.

She had a good head on her shoulders and almost everything Master Rong spoke of, she took in, understood the meaning and silently learnt. If Master Rong knew how intelligent this quiet young lady was, perhaps he would be unwilling to ever let her leave the valley, maybe even take her in as his disciple ah!

In a blink of an eye, a year had already passed.

Weilan although not fully recovered, had already been doing her usual training to keep her body in top condition. With the help of Master Rong, her body actually felt much stronger than before, her innate spiritual powers also drastically increased due to the various precious herbs Master Rong had used during her treatment.

But it didn't take long for Weilan to notice that there something wrong with Yanxi. Her complexion was getting paler and paler each day and during their meals, Yanxi would only take a bite or two before stopping.

At first Weilan did not want to probe too much, but on one of the nights, as they were having dinner together, Yanxi suddenly coughed up blood and collapsed on the table.

"Yanxi? Yanxi! What's wrong?!"

The always silent Weilan suddenly shouted out in shock, an anxious expression on her face. She stood up in a hurry, ignoring the slight pain in her body as she hurried over to Yanxi's side.

Placing a hand on her forehead, her movement stiffened.

Yanxi's entire body was cold as ice, shivering nonstop and her lips turning purple.

Having heard the commotion, Master Rong who had been in the courtyard quickly hurried in.

Upon seeing Yanxi's condition, his usual cheeky old man appearance was suddenly serious and intimidating.

"Yatou, help me carry her to the bed."

Without giving a second thought, the two supported Yanxi to the bed, laying her down gently.
