PREFACE

Hello everyone! This story is greatly inspired by Chiung Yao's novel, Fire and Rain, and the subsequent 2001 drama adaptation, Romance in the Rain. Credits go to them and also shout out to Youtube subtitles for much of the translation.

For the purpose of fitting it into my Quinntana universe, I will use some of the original plotlines and add my own twists of course. This is a drama so expect ups and downs.

Some notes to lay the scene...

AU setting resembles  the 1930s-1940s New York

Creative liberties hold no historical accuracy whatsoever

Polyamory has been recently abolished

Homophobia and racism are nonexistent

Heavy classism and prejudice in favor of the rich and breadwinners

Thus causing inequalities in education, healthcare, and social acceptance

Rated T: Minor language and sexual innuendos

Warnings: Minor mentions of domestic abuse and fighting (we are in a historical period so to be expected)

Upper East Side - Fabray Estate

The pouring rain came down harshly, almost to the point of being unable to see. Quinn pulled back the heavy gate just enough so she could slip out and run away from the estate. She tried her best to ignore the protest of her wounds and kept walking, holding her arms across her chest.

"Watch out!"

A biker out of nowhere was rounding the corner and coming straight toward her. They narrowly missed her body but the momentum was enough to send her tumbling and the other person's bike crashed loudly to the ground.

"Sorry! Are you okay?"

Quinn pushed her wet bangs to the side and tried to focus on the person.

The young woman quickly made her way over to Quinn. "Shit, you're injured! I'll take you to the hospital," she said, trying to speak over the sound of heavy rain as she helped her up.

"I'm fine. Don't mind me," Quinn said, crossing her arms again to hug herself. She turned to leave but the stranger stood in her way.

"But I must. Sorry, the rain is too heavy, I didn't see you."

"You didn't run me over, I merely fell," Quinn managed. "And my injuries were not caused by you."

Worried brown eyes looked at her confused as they took in the slashes on Quinn's dress and cardigan.

"Are you sure my bike didn't bump into you? Did someone jump you?"

"Yes I was robbed, I was robbed of everything I had. Even my pride was taken away..." Quinn mumbled, staring blankly at the ground.

"You should go to the police then! Come on, I'll go with you," the woman grabbed Quinn's hand, causing her to grimace. "What's the matter?"

"The police wouldn't be able to interfere," she said dejectedly. "I'm not going." She took two steps away before she lost balance again but luckily steady arms reached out to catch her.

"Hop on my bike. I can take you to the hospital, you need treatment."

"Are you bent on poking your nose into this?" Quinn asked, looking at the woman's face finally.
