Fabray Cottage
Quinn's tense posture had not eased by the time they returned home. The confrontation in Kitty's hospital room left her with the worst recollection of her mother being pushed around by Martha. Her father was far too presumptuous in bringing her mother there. Though they had mended their relationship with him, it was ridiculous if he thought they could be one united family.
"Mama, why did you go to the hospital?" Quinn accosted. "You knew Martha was going to insult you, yet you chose to go anyway."
Judy looked down. "I'm different from you, honey. I can't find it in myself to say no to your father."
"Haven't you had enough abuse? Yet you still listened to him and faced a head-on confrontation."
Judy's face fell further at her daughter's words.
"Quinn, stop," Santana warned. "Your mother's gotten enough from Martha. Had you listened to me and not gone, things wouldn't have gone so bitter."
The terseness in Santana's voice caught Quinn's attention immediately. "Didn't you hear what she said about my mother? Can you tolerate someone humiliating and shouting at your mother like that?"
Santana shook her head. "Your parents are grown-ups, they can make their own decisions. We have different perceptions. I think that if you didn't interfere, your father would've dealt with this fairly."
"Then where was he all those years ago?" Quinn threw her hands up in frustration. "I'm not going to stand aside to watch my mother get pushed around. You should be on my side, you should know better than anyone how awful Martha has been to us!"
"You're digressing again," Santana frowned. "Brittany was right, we were in front of Kitty's bed in a hospital. You should've considered her feelings when you were shouting."
"Brittany?" Quinn repeated coldly. Brittany again. "She's so capable that she stopped a war and I was the one who triggered it. Is that what you think?"
Santana pursed her lips. "Yes."
Quinn bit her tongue and stared at the wall. She hated fighting with Santana.
"Quinnie, Martha said some harsh words, but it's fine. I'm fine," Judy reassured her. "Don't fight with Santana about this trivial matter."
Quinn closed her eyes, taking a deep breath. "I'm going for a breather." She swiftly went out the door, leaving Santana looking after her.
"Santana, please don't take that to heart," Judy tried. "Whenever it comes to me, Quinn becomes sensitive. She's all geared up only because she's seen me hurt before, she's coming from good intentions. Do be patient with her."
Santana gave a small nod.

Streets of Lower East Side
She said she wouldn't fight with me anymore over other people and yet she defends others. She must think Brittany is right and perfect about everything.
Quinn groaned in frustration. She walked to the Manhattan Bridge and stopped to lean on the guard rail, her eyes casting over the East River as she mulled over their conversation and what occurred in Kitty's hospital room.
