This is kinda like a prologue but oh well

Y/n = Your name

L/n = Last Name

"Hey, hey... it'll be alright. I promise"

what a pile of-

"Y/n!" Your mother called you out of your thoughts. Driving on an hours long trip with your mom, what an experience. You stared at her with a slightly irritated expression. "Are you excited?" She replied back with an awkwardly enthusiastic smile.

"About what..." Y/n murmured. "About out new house! New school, new people, and you know what that means...New friends! What's not exciting about all of that?"
"The fact that I liked our old neighborhood just the way it is, and with one friend" she rolled her eyes. Only eight years old, Y/n was developing what her mother called 'moxxie'.

"Aw don't be like that, my little girl needs to spread her wings" "and you needed a new job" she snapped back. "So that's why we're moving I guess"
Silence filled the car as your mother sighed at the comment. "That wasn't very nice. If you want to make friends you need to be more careful with your words"

"But what if they don't like me? What if they just leave me alone and dont even talk to me?" Y/n said flatly as she looked out the window at the passing scenery. She noticed a bright green sign up ahead.

Haddonfield - 25 miles

"It all starts with a better attitude for one" Your mother tapped the power button on the cars radio. It started playing some old hard rock hits. Y/n slightly smiled, music made everything better. Her smile faded as she thought of school. Homework, disappointing her mom with her grades, petty drama. All of it was unavoidable no matter how hard she tried.

Her eyes became heavy as the warm sun blanketed her through the car window. The surroundings and sounds slowly hypnotized her into a light sleep.

Y/n softly breathed, her mind fell into a sense of security as she slept. That's what made naps awesome. You forget everything when you drift away into your own mind.
Her eyes slightly squinted as a bright white flashed when she opened her eyes. 'It always has to be white, annoying color...' she thought

Rough fingers curled through your own. Y/n looked down at her hand intertwined with another, then at the arm, then at the body it was attached to.
The person wasn't facing her, yet was holding her hand. They had shoulder length blonde hair. They wore an old band shirt, dirty jeans, and torn converses. The grip on her hand tightened as a voice echoed

"I won't forget you"

She snapped awake when someone started shaking her. "Wakey wakey, we're here"
It was her mom, of course. Y/n mindlessly unbuckled her seatbelt with a groan. They were parked at the side of a two story home painted brownish-yellow finish with a porch that wrapped around the first floor. The right side had vines growing up its walls. If anything it added some spirit to the house.

Y/ns mother opened the trunk of the van and took out bunches of labeled boxes. "Y/n, munch, the key is in the mailbox. Please unlock the door and wedge it open so we can get all of this junk inside"
Y/n had no problem with doing that since she'd be the first to see the inside. She ran up the porch and shoved her hand inside the mailbox, feeling around for the key. Finally her finger caught on a key ring and she pulled her hand out. The doorknob was a rusty copper while the key was just as rusty.

'Feels like I'm unlocking the door to an unknown world' Y/n jammed the key into the knob and turned before it clicked. Turning around to call for her mom, she caught the gaze of a boy standing across the street in a plastic clown mask.
It didnt completely cover his head as all of his beautiful blonde hair was visible. He waved, so she waved back. The boy tilted his head before running back inside of the house behind him.

'Weird, he must be a neighbor' Y/n thought as she pushed the door open. A smell of old wood filled her nostrils. The cloths covering the furniture were falling off, revealing the outdated fashion of them. "Coming through!" Her mother called out as she carried four large boxes.

"Help me unload before you explore" she placed her hands on her hips and wiped the sweat off her forehead. Y/n couldn't blame her, August is one of the hottest months.

After lugging in all the boxes of items, Y/n decided to take all of her belongings to whichever bedroom she liked best. Walking through the halls she opened each door. Finally deciding on one on the second floor. It was on the right side where the vines were. She figured if she needed a different escape route to run from her mom, she could climb down the vines to safety.

Hours went by with unboxing and unloading her belongings. Band posters plastered on the walls, the dresser fit with all her notebooks, and the drawers filled with her clothing made the place feel more like home. She skipped down the steps and swung the front door open. The summer air filled her lungs. Y/n sat down in the grass and stared at her shoes while thinking. 'School starts in three weeks. As far as friends go, I got none'

Her eyes darted up so she could look across the street. The boy was there again, this time his mask was off but his back was facing her. Deja vu smacked her in the face but she brushed it off. 'I should talk to him, maybe he goes to same school. I won't be so lonely there if I make some friends. Right?' Y/n got up and brushed off her butt before making her way across the street.

As soon as her feet touched the sidewalk, she stopped and took a deep breath. She broadcasted her voice enough so he could hear her loud and clear

"Hello!"
