9. First Day On The Job

3rd Person POV:

"here they are, i'm going to let you wear them just for today so you can be prepared" Marinette takes her earings off and hands them to her bestfriend while they're in her bedroom .

"anything else" Alya annoyingly whined from all of the rules mari has been giving her, yes they're all important but it's exhausting, also kind of cute how she looked out for chat noir, but of course she wasn't going to tell her that.

"so do not forget this ear bud, i already set up the computer system and camera headband, you should be able to hear me and i should be able to see what's going on" she nods understanding .

"and also you can only use the miraculous for five minutes before detransforming after using the lucky charm which i know you know but i just want-" she gets cut off.

"marinette! i got this, now quit rambling and tell me what went on last night" she giggles awaiting to hear all about it .

"what? alya calm down" marinette laughs as if it was the funniest thing she'd ever heard, her best friend desperate to hear what happened between her and chat noir as if they were in love or something.

"oh come on, you guys didn't get caught up in the light of the moment?  kiss ??" Alya tries to get something out of her but can't .

"NO! i mean, no, we didn't" she stammers, surprised again my the heat coming to her cheeks, it was a weird feeling .

"Marinette!" she whines, "alya" she says in the same tone purposely trying to annoy her .

"what happened to your support for adrien huh? he's the love of me life" she rolls her eyes playfully, "as much as i love the idea of you two together and don't get me wrong i respect you and adrien but he's just not as great as chat noir is for you" she says .

"but are you sure-" Alya begins, "nothing happened between me and chat noir!" she yells holding back the lie in her throat, thinking slowly about it .

the way he hugged her in the warmth of his arms, when she hurried her face in his chest, their lips centimeters apart, but it was silly to think like this, he's her friend, her partner in crime .

then she started feeling it, it was something her girl best friend should know, especially she should know .

so she takes a breathe , "well..." she gets cut off by a hurdle of civilians screaming bloody murder outside the window .  It was time .

"oh my god, oh my god!" Alya freaks out as Mari pulls up her computer equipment to prepare to be behind the scenes, out of control for once in her rough four years of being ladybug .

"i'm not ready oh my god!" alya continues to panic, "hey! remember what we talked out, you'll be okay" alya then takes a breathe and mentally prepares herself .

they could already hear their feline friend outside, he needed help .

"it's about time" Chat noir comes in the frame out of breathe from the akuma, "sorry, had a little panic" she begins to fight back and twirl her yo-yo .

"Behind you !" Marinette says into her ear bud as she quickly turns around and kicks the villian to the side, making sure to listen to every little detail marinette says .

it's one thing being annoyed at preparing for this moment rather than living in it and trying your best to remember what she said and every little thing that could save them .

"so umm chat noir... how did it go with ladybug?" alya starts as the akuma is getting weaker, "What are you doing!!!" Mari yells at her into her eardrum , causing her to reflex back .

"umm, it was sad, i miss her" Marinette almost blushed through the screen, watching his every move, both of their every moves, making sure this system is a success .

The akuma being paralyzed by hawkmoth soon realizes something, and so does he, "that isn't ladybug" hawkmoth takes a step back and detransforms in shock and spite .

the two run towards the villian ready to attack as it quickly turns into an akuma and a civilian out of the blue, making the two fall directly into concrete.

"what the hell" Marinette breathes, watching through the cam, "quick! purify it !!!" Marinette nearly jolts the ear drums off of her best friends ears, she was heard loud and clear .

the two comfort the civilian and put their hands on their knees in distress from the fall, "what was that" Chat noir rubbed his eyes, "he has to know something" Mari whispers to herself deliberating and starting to write in her book .

"great first day on the job huh?" he chuckles helping her up, "yeah, i don't think i'm cut out for this" she tries to get her vision straight again .

"Ladybug trusted you, so i trust you and i hope you trust me back" he smiles gently, trying to stay positive. Alya could practically feel marinettes unwilling blush through the screen, ready to tease her about it.

"oh that reminds me!" she takes out the gift from ladybug, "come on let's go somewhere else" she follows him to the roof so he can open the gift .

"an earbud?" he opens it, wondering what it was for , "put it on" she rolls her eyes seeing what her best friend always talks about pretending to be annoyed, except she actually was.

"hey kitty" marinette smiles, he doesn't know it's her, but he knows it's his lady, talking to him at that moment .

"m'lady ?" his eyes drop wide open, "yeah" she slightly giggles through the screen, emotional a little even.

"i already miss you, it feels nice to hear your voice" he beams into the air, imagining her next to him feeling that familiar Parisian breeze in his hair, the feeling of freedom with her .

"yeah?" she smiles uncontrollably though he can't see her, "yeah" he starts laughing as alya watches the show for herself .

"oh my god listen love birds" Mari and him instantly freeze at the comment, "this earbud is for you to talk to ladybug whenever you want, during missions" she catches chat noir beaming in excitement.

she was still there with him, even if they couldn't see each other, well marinette could see him, she liked watching him zone off without a care in the world, she felt safe around him .
