Jace's POV

Opening the front door of my car, I got in and put the keys in the ignition. I turned the keys and listened to the car roar to life.

I slowly pulled out of the Grocery store parking lot and got onto the road, making my way home.

I smiled to myself, thinking of my anniversary date. I would have been more than happy to organize the date, but when Clary offered, I couldn't say no!

I was extremely excited to find out what Clary had come up with. She was a very creative and outgoing little ball of fire. Anything she organized, I'd love. She could give me a sandwich a month out of date, and as long as she smiled at me while handing it over, I'd be happy to eat it, with a huge grin on my face.

After a few minutes on the road, I recognized my part of town and pulled onto my street. Half way down, I recognized mine and Clary's house and pulled into the driveway.

Stepping out of the car and locking the doors, I hurried to the front door and opened it, inhaling deeply through my nose. It smelt like heaven!

Once I was inside, I closed the door and tugged my coat off, and threw it on the rack. Suddenly, the coat rack fell over, knocking everything on it to the ground.

I sighed and bent over to pick up the coats and the rack, when I noticed a small white envelope just next to Clary's coat.

Being the curious man I am, I kneeled forward and picked up the envelope. I opened it up slowly and pulled out the small black and white photo that was inside of it.

When I pulled it out, my jaw dropped and I cupped my mouth with my free hand.

It was an ultrasound. A baby. A small child.

I stood up slowly, smiling widely as I gazed at the imagine. Clary's pregnant!

I couldn't wipe the smile off my face. We weren't trying to get pregnant but now that she is I couldn't be more excited to start a family with her. She'd be such an amazing mother!

Suddenly, reality hit me like a slap in the face.

Clary was pregnant and hadn't told me.

Anger boiled inside me as I took the fallen coats from the floor and hung them back up. I held the photo in my fist and my jaw was clenched as Clary walked around the corner with a smile on her face. Once she spotted my angry features, her smile fell and she looked worried.

"What happened, Jace?" She asked, in a calming voice. She walked up next to me and placed her small hand on my bicep.

I glanced down at her hand and looked at the constellations of freckles that started on her knuckles and made their way up her arm and then covered her whole body. My gaze followed the trail of brown stars up to her face and my eyes met her anxious ones.

I let out a sigh, as all of the anger inside of me turned to sadness. I closed my eyes, gathering my thoughts. I didn't want to get mad at her. Maybe she was trying to keep it a surprise to tell me tonight?

"Clary?" I spoke, my voice surprisingly calm. She rubbed my arm in a comforting manner, before she glanced down at the ultrasound picture in my hand.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked, searching her eyes for some sort of answer, when she didn't reply right away.

"Jace, I promised that I'd keep it a secret." She whispered, sadness laced her voice.

Her answer shocked me and I didn't understand why she wouldn't tell me! I was her husband! I deserved to know if I was going to be a father or not! Unless...
