After that night, Anthony and I continued to sneak around to be in each others company for another month. I couldn't figure out why, but I wanted to be around him almost all the time. Whenever we hung out, it would definitely be the most fun I'd have that day. We'd hike, go swimming on hot days, and even hang out with Meg and Jane. The girls and their partners swore not to tell anyone which I valued since Herc was a prince himself and Jackson was his best friend.
It was Monday; I finally caught up with time. But it's not like it mattered in this world.
I was grabbing a pair of clothes to wear out with the girls since they wanted to go to Fantasyland for the day. Cinder and Pocahontas were over at the castle, but I'm sure they'd understand. When I wasn't with Anthony, I found myself becoming closer with the other princesses, which Anna really liked. The princesses understood my individuality and made it easier for me to be myself. Which meant they helped get me some clothes that weren't all royalty and what not. Although, I did promise Anna I'd still dress and act like a princess when I needed to.
I grabbed a black and red flower short shirt, black high waisted jeans, and a pair of leather ankle boots. I would love to go out in a sweat shirt and shorts with some sneakers, but I felt like dressing a little nicer that day.
"Anna, I'm heading to town." I entered the loft and saw the girls lounging in the sunlight that was streaming from the windows.
"Alrighty, chicka," Anna flipped her orange curls behind her shoulder. "Just be careful."
"I always am." I smiled while waving to the other princesses.
I quickly made it out to old town and headed into a few shops, receiving bows from almost everyone who saw me. I was becoming more used to it, thankfully. But I was glad that I could also talk to the townspeople as if they were ordinary people and as if I were an ordinary girl.
"Good morning." Jackson suddenly stepped in front of me while I was coming out of the ice cream parlor.
"Good morning, prince Jackson." I lowered my head.
He chuckled as we began to head towards fantasyland together.
"Where's Alex and Herc?" I asked.
"Alex is taking care of some stuff apparently and Herc is off with Meg, of course."
I shrugged, feeling Jackson's eyes keep shifting between his walk way and the side of my face.
"What are you looking at?" I finally asked as we entered a lovely flower garden near Deena's castle.
"I've been hearing stuff, Melody. And seeing stuff to be honest," He stopped and looked at the flowers. "Listen, I know you've been hanging around Anthony. You really think my best friend who keep a secret like that away from me?"
Damn, Herc.
I stayed quiet for a moment, silently admiring the flowers.
"Melody, you know what I told you. He's bad news. And-"
